One thing that bothers me to no end is when somebody votes to kick a player, and then expects everybody to make a vote even when they don't know why. Frequently by the time somebody asks and (sometimes) gets an answer, the vote has ended. Hence...
I propose that the syntax for /kick include a required <reason> field. If a player is willing to go through the trouble of interrupting everybody's gameplay, however briefly, s/he could at least take the time to explain why. Comments? HF Bin |

We used to have this. It was taken out because people just always trolled with random reasons (i.e. /vote kick TheCapedAvenger "is gay").

I realize that would be an issue. I am trying to think up a solution for it. The first thing I thought of was have a "warning system" or something like that, but that would require a much bigger addition to the entire central server that holds the player list. I will continue pondering this...
Edit: The warning system would be for the people who are trolling. HF Bin |

You could have a "scroll down list" of logical reasons that the server would want/allow you to kick a player for. And you must chose one of those... similar to how you can only chose to kick a player in the server because you have to chose from that list.

I like this idea, provided one of the reasons is something like "player switched to other team, thus unbalancing teams"
something like that, only not as long. |

I think a list of reasons would be the most practical. We could just have an all-inclusive reason of "Other" for anything else where (hopefully) the actual reason would be typed into chat and people would wait for the typed out reason.
I'm sure with all of us we could come up with a pretty varied list of reasons though. |

Agreed. Kicking people because they are good is just rediculous.

You could also implement a sort of word filter for the "reason" field.
If the person says something like "gay" in the reason field, they get a written warning in chat saying that if they do it again they'll get kicked. Of course if something like that is written the kick vote is null. Sure, it'd need a list of "words", but there is already a filter in place right? |
