He's been quite ill for a while. This is just him stepping down because he doesn't think he'll get well enough to be CEO again. I think he's been on leave since January anyway.

rib is correct, per usual... this is terrible news for apple, and another hit to finance... apple stock down big after hours.

His health is pretty bad and has been for years, but it's not like he's leaving Apple - just stepping down as CEO.

The company he started though has more money than the U.S. government.

EDIT: Actually, Steve Jobs changed the computer world in many ways. He invented things that even PC users use, like the mouse - etc.

That plane isn't crashing, you nubcake, it's performing a highly advanced maneuver that should be impossible for an aircraft without thrust vectoring. It was a reply to my F-14, which could also do crazy **** like that, btw.

Edit: Also, idc what platform you use they both have their uses (at least in my case in terms of programs).

I have my complaints with Apple as well. But I do think Apple is more efficient with their products/software.

@rojo, I totally agree. That's why I have several PC computers and several Macs.

You know I have a lot of respect for you Hurri, so I'm going to respond to you in a PM.

The tl;dr version: my comment was more from an invention/business perspective. If everybody would(could) read, he's leaving his CEO position to be chairmen of the board. He's still going to have an impact on his company.

Someone's butthurt? Dying of cancer is no different than dying from anything else in my opinion. Why make a fuss about one person when there's so many more dying?

Dying is dying, get over yourself hurri.

Dying of cancer is incredibly slow and very painful. Not all dying is equal.

Not even that. It was just a stupid comparison. It's like saying some homeless guy has more money than me cause he has 20$ in his tin can and I have 5$ in my wallet.

My father was slowly dying from cancer, and the pain got to such a point that he chose to be euthanized. Not all death is equal.

The immaturity of this forum is amazing.... The fact that you don't like a company keeping you from feeling sympathy for someone who is most likely dying is sickening.

Whether you like it or not, Jobs brought apple to where it is today. Which is amazing considering the competition and obstacles he had to overcome. You say he stole ideas, others say he was a visionary. Since when is stealing ideas NOT part of a huge corperation? If the other phone companies didn't steal ideas from apples iPhone, they'd still be far behind.

So, quit with the annoying remarks and respect the man for what he did.

I'm obviously sad that Jobs is ill, but this doesn't excuse things like the questionable labour apple uses. He is a great man, but being sick isn't a reason to forget the wrongs people have committed. Apple workers in sweatshops have died due to poisoning, I think we should be as sad for them as for Steve Jobs.

To be fair, he may not have even known about people dying in the sweatshops until it hit the media. Corporations like Apple have a long, long, long chain of command. Despite this, I still don't like their products. Mr. Jobs still has my deepest sympathies. Nobody should be forced to suffer like that before they die imo.

The ad campaign was run at the same time Jobs came back to the company after the merger of NeXT and Apple.

Ahh, interesting. Thanks for the ad pic.

I don't think anyone on this thread is happy about Jobs state of ill health. People are only questioning his business ethics.

Seriously. Google didn't spend $12.5 billion on Motorola for gits and shiggles.
