Default Ping spikes makes the game (near) unplayable

No matter which server I join (even servers where I ping under 40ms), I always get huge spikes where my ping goes over 999ms and the game becomes unplayable for a couple of seconds. I get the red "CONNECTION PROBLEM" at the bottom of my screen.

I've never had high ping playing any other games. I've never experienced local lag. My connection is top notch.

I did a tracert just now on a 90ish ping server:

>tracert 173.74.185.78

Tracing route to pool-173-74-185-78.dllstx.fios.verizon.net [173.74.185.78]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

How long has this been occurring? How long did you play before without loss? Do you have a Bigfoot Networks Killer network card?

It looks like there's packet loss on your link; your internet service provider may be experiencing general issues, or there may be a specific problem connecting to a particular region. Do you experience ping spikes on european servers?

I occassionally get this. I have no idea why, but restarting my router always fixes the problem.

It's always been occurring playing Altutide. I've never had connection issues with any other games, and god knows I played many online games.

I get this on all servers. Some will give me the connection problem and >999ms ping every minute or 2. On other servers I get it once every 3-4 minutes, which makes the game somewhat playable.

It's still very frustrating when you lose the ball because of it.

I don't have a bigfoot networks killer card.

I have this problem too, i would say for any given 10 minute period in any server i'd get between 5-10 blips where my ping rises from ( lets say im in a euro server ) 24 to 200 something. When this happens my screen freezes for between id say .3 secs to .8 secs approximately.

I do not have said bigfoot killer card either.

Also i don't experience this on other online games.

I mean, it doesnt stop me owning but i certainly would like this not to happen.

This also happens to me and has been since I started playing. People have said it's to do with java dumping, but I'm not so sure.

If you have a dual core or higher processor you should never notice Java's garbage collection. If you have a virus scanner you should make sure it's not scanning in the background when your playing Altitude; also the virus scanner could have "real time protection" turned on that interferes with Altitude somehow.

I do run Altitude on a dual core processor, as for virus scanners i run mac which has its own protection.

The ping spikes are my ****ty connections fault, but in windowed mode my screen does freeze (admittedly briefly) which is a pain.
