To be honest I disagree with all three of those statements.
Oh well, personal preference I guess. I still stand by my advice of "buy battlefield 3". ^^

Buy both. CoD is good if you want arcadey mindlessness to kill time with friends and Battlefield is good if you want to work as a team to accomplish something.

cod is way too arcadey for my liking. I just rage when I see some multiplayer cod footage. If I want to play an arcadey fps, I just reinstall 1.6 and I stomp some noobs.

BF is a semi realistic (well, much more than cod anyway) ... thing. It's not a fps because you don't pilot tanks and planes in a fps. As you said, it's much more team oriented, and since Desert Combat I've fallen in love with it.

Nothing about CoD is realistic. >_>

And sure you can drive tanks in FPSes. World at War had tanks and it's still just an FPS game, yes? But yeah, Battlefield is much better than CoD when you want to focus on the game and not just relaxing with friends.

Battlefield 3 is basically bringing us to the next generation of PC games, not to sound like a loser or anything.

Seriously, Frostbite 2 engine is absolutely gorgeous and is legitimately the next step in gaming. Thank you thank you thank youuuu DICE.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about the shiny new engine for BF3? I just enjoy the series and don't mind having another game.

Meh.

I'm more interested in the core gameplay than aesthetics.

Right...but the core gameplay is enhanced immensely by the new engine. Total destruction, amazing lighting effects, enhanced audio...how does that not revolve around core gameplay?

This new engine makes developing these games 100x easier which equals more games for your enjoyment. The new engine isn't all about the graphics.

The individual pieces of buildings falling down is a cool mechanic. Blocking off a vital choke point with this could be a legitimate strategy.

Something that really cracks me up every single time is that Russian ARMY for some reason uses AK47s. In real life they haven't used the gun since what ... 1960 or 1970 ? rofl

Eto'o, who the F cares about trailers rofl.
When I decide to buy a game or not, it's based on gameplay footage.
So when I see
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zw8SmsovJc
it kinda convinces me that bf3 is worth it.

What he said. I prefer CoD though, cause I like arcadey mindlessness.

I was talking with some nerds who attended pax at a gamestop.....they were saying that Bf3 may not be all bells and whistles because of the explosions are making peoples eyes bleed and such >_>...

Mw3 seems to have the graphics of mw2....fair enough. What they have changed gameplay wise is pretty nice: no more second chance, no commando, no stopping power, you get points to your next killstreak by playing THE OBJECTIVE etc....

anyways back to what you said payne, sure the new engine make games easier to create but from what i seen it looks like everything is about Graphics lol... things look more realistic. theres vehicles and parts of terrain that can be destroyed....cool

Death Streaks are back, Final Stand is back, Martyrdom is back, Hollow Point gives you Stopping Power for one kill, Revenge allows you to see the last player that killed you. MW3 is going to be just as broken as MW2 was, just in different ways.

Specialist gives you all perks at 8 kills. Support pointstreaks never reset. SoH Pro + Overkill = shotgun secondary with fast switch time. Juggernaut Recon gives you damage resistance, more health than you need, a riot shield, USP secondary, and a built in motion sensor. It drops from an airdrop, yeah, but once you get it you can take any point by yourself unless you're pants-on-head retarded.

All this was shown at CoD XP. MW3 isn't going to be as good as everyone thinks it is. If you want a pretty well balanced CoD go play Black Ops. If you want a CoD where anyone can do well then get MW2/3. There's no skill gap in MW2: there's just idiots tubing and panic knifing.

Uhh what? It makes your eyes bleed? Turn down the brightness or something...

I guess I'm confused as to what you guys want out of BF3. The whole series has had amazing core gameplay (save for Vietnam), so obviously they have that taken care of. So why not make the game look more realistic?

Yeah...being able to destroy parts of terrain is pretty ****ing cool.

ITT: Fanboyism for one game or another. The point I was trying to make in my last few posts is that Battlefield and CoD are like apples and oranges. Sure they're both shooters, but they play fundamentally different from one another due to the map structure, game flow and the guns/loadouts themselves. Buy both, enjoy both, be happy this fall and winter.

I'm okay with this. A rebalanced MW2 isn't a bad thing.
