Default Port fowarding help needed!!

hello, I'm trying to launch a server and each time i get that "Router/firewall improper configuration" message.

I already took care of the firewall

I have a Mac OS X 10.7 (lion)
My router is a Motorola SurfBoard SB5120 and i connect it wirelessly

I understood that to forward ports you have to access your router configuration page, and thats what I'm struggling to do

Is the configuration page really on http://192.168.1.2 ?

Do i have to be connected to the router by a wire and not wirelessly to do so?

If you have any hints, Input, advice AND SOLUTIONS it would be very welcomed

Sincerely Yours
THE MARVEL, CEO of (5) inc

P.S. Ive already tried Portfoward.com

Your router configuration page could be absolutely anything.

Usually it's in the range 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.0.255 but it could literally be any address at all.

To find out, you need to look through your network properties while connected to it (wireless or wired should both be fine) and look for "default gateway" or "DHCP Server". It'll probably be something like the address you gave but it's different for every model / brand / network.

When you find it, type it into a browser and try it. If you get a configuration page, it worked. If not, you don't have the right address.

Some routers will only allow you to access them locally (i.e. plugged in via a cable) but that's usually an option you have to turn on - the default is to be accessible over any connection, usually.

Go into system prefs.

Click on network

Click on "Airport" on the left

Click advanced at the bottom right

Click TCP/IP up top

The "Router" value is where your router is.

It will most likely be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

You'll probably need to google for the username and password though.

Although try these

admin with no password
admin as username and admin as password
admin as username and password as password
