High Ping today

Anyone else having issues with this? I've been logging in, finding a server I only have 40 or so ping on, and joining, only to be kicked 2 minutes later as my ping is something crazy like 593. I don't lag in the games at all, and when it sends me back the server menu, my ping is all of a sudden back down around 40 for the server I was just on.

Possibly related, I haven't been able to kill very well. It seems that I shoot someone, they smoke as if they are about to die, I shoot them again (with a heavy cannon round), and they just sit there, still smoking. Again, this has only happened to me today, as far as I know.

I've played on official 1, 3, and the obj test server.

EDIT : I was not running any other applications, web-based or otherwise, while playing.

You'd have to post additional information, like where are you located and what type of connection you have. If you're playing on wireless spikes like that are common.
