The *Real* Altitude Hall of Fame - Balloting Stage

The last thread was an unprecedented failure. That's okay, I'm here to save everything.

I figure the best way to do this is like it's done in real life - by having HoF "classes". What I'm going to do is have 10 players from each year of Altitude be placed in the inaugural Hall of Fame class, the class of 2009 (the first real year of competitive Altitude as we know it).

I have set up a Google doc with the nominees and will now be taking ballots from the userbase to decide who will be in the first class. Please post here if you wish to receive a ballot.

I disagree with a lot of the choices on the ballot, especially within the context of 2009.

Apathy - What? Apa is my boy but I don't see how you can justify having him here and not other people. He only gets picked on cause he's first but there are a ton of people on the list that shouldn't be here for the same reasons.

Beagle - same as above

BG1 - one of the OG bomb runners but you include him but not GGQ?

Chobopeon - bad player but did kick off competitive altitude so he does deserve to get in

Esoteric - good player but I don't think he really came into play until he joined L*. He's a 2010 pick

It's a much better list than Xorg but there's a couple of notable names missing like Gumby, Moxie, Flight666, ARAB, etc.

Need to distinguish between really, really good players, community builders, innovators, etc. Kind of a weird list to choose from.

edit: My timing might be off, but I also think mikesol started TAing in late 2009. IMO if you want to do this right, it needs to be done in 2 waves. Doesn't need to meet 10 names. Put EVERYONE in, have it narrowed down with broad vote and then have a committee decide who gets in and who doesnt. But then again, this is just Altitude hall of fame so it's not too serious. Depends on how much effort you want to put in / how legit you want it to be.

I didn't put a whole much thought behind compiling this list other than "was playing a lot in 2009" and "is relatively well-known". seeing as we're only taking the top 10 from this list, i figured that 28 choices would be enough and if there were people that obviously shouldn't be on the list then they wouldn't be voted for. i ran it by tyr to make sure i wasn't missing anyone egregrious, don't think i really did.

EDIT: regarding mikesol, i checked up a little and sammich was created in late november of 2009, and didn't win their first apl until 2010. i figured he'd be a shoe-in for 2010, so it doesn't make much sense to put him in here when he's guaranteed first-ballot in 2010 anyway.

what i was planning to do was have a top-10 "first class" similar to how the NFL hof works, and have significant vote-getters from this ballot be carried over into the next one (without carrying over their votes, obviously) so players have multiple chances of getting in if they may have been barely snubbed in the previous year. thoughts?

Smush is kinda right. We can't get everyone in the ballot stage unless we really take the time and ask everyone who should be in there.
When I told some names to ssd, I didn't necessarily valued the pure skill of that person, but more what they did for the community.
Example : without chobopeon's contribution back in 2009 I doubt Altitude would be where it is today. He brought all the TL players in here (including myself and kuja and a good third of the other names on the list) and started the first tournament.

Tbh, I think the list is pretty good as it is. Even though players such as Gumby or Moxie aren't in there, I honestly doubt they'd finish in the top10. When casting my votes, I had to skip players such as eth or evil who are both more deserving than gumby.
eth and evil both will get a place in my 2010 vote though. I feel like eth really started to shine and utterly dominate everything that existed at the beginning of 2010, but was just a good player like many others in 2009, whereas jeppew for instance showed his presence right away by becoming the only lazor master pretty much instantly (Maimer had stopped lazoring already) and dominated everyone.

I was always running behind the others in this game,
I tried with a few flaws in an innovative way to organize a league
I believe that I have inspired several new players on my way to play,
is the fact that I am well known for my lag bombs
I gave the kick-start and support for some kind of clans such as IT, AH and BB.
I am the creator of Second oldest clan in activity at this time.
For my team spent more than 60 players, and probably 80% of them. new players that I followed his progress day after day.
Nowadays, I lost my status as a leader, and I fight a disease that is disturbing my skillz in the game.
