Default Catalyst 11.9 stuttering?

Just updated my ATI Catalyst drivers from 11.8 to 11.9 today and now I'm getting very sludgey stuttering gameplay
So far I've tested Altitude, Deus Ex and Red Orchestra 2, and it's only happening in Altitude.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I have a Radeon HD 5770 running on a Athlon II X3 450, with an ECS IC780M-A2 motherboard (AMD 770 northbridge, SB700 southbridge).

Edit: Oh, Win7 x64, btw.

Try this:

1) F1 to open console
2) vsync false
3) fps 300

Thanks, that didn't seem to help, though

I'll try reverting to 11.8 drivers, and see what happens.

AMD somehow messed up their OpenGL drivers. Just google all the problems people are having with Rage.

You could try updating to the Rage/Battlefield 3 preview driver if you really want the latest and greatest.

The 11.10 preview driver v2 makes alti crash on startup everytime. The game completely hangs and I have to end task it.

Surprised to hear it fixed things for you.

AMD/ATI drivers have disappointed for two years now... to the point where my next graphics card will be an nVidia even if it costs more for less raw horsepower.

The only solution I have found to alleviate my AMD driver woes is http://www.drivercleaner.net/. Every time I install new AMD drivers I uninstall the old ones using the AMD uninstaller and then I run Driver Cleaner .NET.

NOTE: Driver cleaner .net costs money and is in no way associated with Nimbly Games, LLC. We do not make any money from linking you to their site. It is strictly my personal experience using this product. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I bought driver cleaner cause my AMD drivers got so messed up I had only two options 1) Reinstall Windows 7 from scratch or 2) Try Driver Cleaner and hope it works which it did.

I think there are free programs that do a similar or perhaps an identical job as driver cleaner but I have never used them... If you're feeling cheap make sure you check everything you download using http://www.virustotal.com/ bad drivers are never as bad as a virus.

FYI I'm running:
AMD Catalyst 11.7 driver version 8.872.0.0
Radeon 6850
Windows 7 64-bit

Using the above set up I haven't experienced any problems w/ Altitude.

Is there a safe, free way to fix this? I'm just not sure about what goes into uninstalling and installing new drivers...
