Default Team-Liquid Minecraft PVP

Heyo -

So for those of you who play minecraft you should consider joining in on the TL-pvp server. We have an altitude faction on there and could use some more people to help defend our land (you could also just join and never play again so that we get the power from you being in our faction even if you're offline).

The basic premise of the server is that you have these alliances who work together to try and survive against random other teams who try to kill you and take all of your stuff.

Unlike in normal minecraft, you actually can level up over time. If you mine a lot you get chances for double or triple drops as well as increased mine speed. If you fall off mountains a lot you get decreased fall damage and so forth. There's also an actual economy where you can buy / sell items in shops and you earn money from killing monsters.

You can claim land based on the power of your team - but if you claim too much people can easily overrun your base and take all of your stuff. The other change is that people can't place blocks on your land or kill your stuff until they've claimed the land as their's (so walls and bridges have a point).

Monsters are also more powerful and there are new monsters such as giants that appear (that you need multiple people to take down usually).

Social interactions are also a lot more complicated. If you randomly insult someone or attack someone - they could reap vengeance on you with all of their buddies.

There's a lot of other random changes and add-ons but I encourage anyone who is interested to give it a shot.

You will need to create a team-liquid account if you haven't done so - and then just go to this thread to find out the server ip info and other rules.

If you're interested let me know so I can invite you to our team

We were in the first version of this server with monkey and eth but some helpers cheated so it was reseted and we decided to not play again.
Is it good now ? We might give it another shot.

D: I was in a battle with your team last night. They kept trying to kill me while I was in town. Then the loners joined in and were spawn camping so I got on a building and started killing them with arrows.

I really enjoy it and the people who are in it. In general most of them are really cool even if they raid your place. I really like the idea of minecraft actually having a purpose and a goal in mind (plus it's really cool to work with awesome people on projects - you and monkey would be great at building a defensive structure). I also really enjoy the leveling system where you feel like you gain something from mining other than just materials.

We got destroyed yesterday by the loners. People kept teleporting back to base without anything and getting killed over and over so our power went into negative and they took all of our land. Doors were left open and someone had made a path over the wall. We took all of the stuff we could and moved closer to our allies. If you type /f home you should be teleported to our new base. It's still pretty bad out there because we got killed right before we all went to bed but there should be some stuff out there (although I hid most of the valuables just in case someone found that base too).

Also glad to hear more people are interested. Hopefully we won't get destroyed this time around ^_^

You don't need to PM anyone. The IP address is nested in the TL thread which you should read anyways as it gives you a good idea of how this particular game mode is played.

You just join the server and when Mike or someone is on, they'll send you a faction invite.

Ya irninja is crazy busy and usually won't respond unless pestered tremendously (he'll mute you if you ask an annoying question to him). Just join the server sometime tonight and I'll add you

So much fun on this server. I don't think I saw the number of players drop below 20 in the time I was there.

I'd be interested but out of curiosity, are the majority of players from US. As the timeframe for me wouldn't be too helpful.

I'd definitely be interested in making traps, and secret hideouts and what not!

Nice, a PVP-server. So what is this team liquid? How many players online are there on day and night? How many clans are there?
How do you protect your items? With a vault (redstone lock)?

Seems to be fun, I might join even tho its a really rough job to maintain a serious server, like one with PVP enabled.

Team liquid is an online gaming community that plays tons of games. The server holds 65 and it's usually full for most of the day (or almost full). There are between 10 and 20 teams with some having over 30 players and some only have one. It's mostly us but there are a decent number of Europeans on it too. Items in chests in your factions territory are protected unless the enemy takes over your land. Read the thread for more info

See above for euro stuff. But ya you both are more than welcome. We should have our wall mostly done today!

If you haven't already, you guys need to download teamspeak (http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads). Once you're there you can look at the server list and filter out "teamlegacy" and it should be the only server that pops up. Atleast for minecraft, we need to start using this more. We get perks for being active users on teamspeak rather than mumble, and it's useful for pillaging with our allies.

Perks for using teamspeak, what kind of perks are you talking about? So no perks for linux users, I wonder what is wrong with Mumble Ill just put this here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMfF36NvoJc
Its smaller, more stable, easier to setup, more userfriendly, easy to maintain, low demands on both client and server hardware, its free and opensourced. There is more people working on Mumble and they're doing it for free even on weekend, which means their work is properly done (not forced). Hackers rather report bugs to brothers (opensourcers) and the crew will fix it the next day (not 5 month for a security fix, like ms do). I just had to do that...

Yes, I know its suppose to be supported for linux systems, but they believe that PulseAudio is the driver that we all use, but that is not even close to correct. I think its standard for only Ubuntu. Anyway, I gave it a try with PulseAudio on Debian for a week, because I offered to help the biggest PVP-server with their anticheat system and they demanded their team to use Teamspeak. Took a while to get it working but it crashes and disconnects me (without any reason given = nub coders) very often, it was not possible to use it because of the problems it gave me. Its not even close to user-friendly.

EDIT: Ok, the perk might not be that interesting for me, someone on the server said something about capes By the way, there was a broadcast (from an operator) that said there was going to be a reset of the map on 25th October.
