Default Acid

I understand why acid doesn't stack n all cus that would be retarded, but I've always wondered why a follow up acid cloud doesn't refresh the armor debuff and/or DOT. Again, karlam, I'm sure you have your reasons behind such a thing, or you don't. Whatever, FK U . I'm not of the persuasion that acid needs a buff or anything, but this might be a reasonable mechanic to implement.

Thoughts etc?

A follow-up cloud does reset the timer and debuff.

The only potentially confusing bit is that a single cloud can only trigger against a given plane once. Hence, if you're hit by an acid cloud, then circle back through that same acid cloud, the debuff won't keep resetting when you're in the cloud. However, if someone else (or the same guy) shoots another acid capsule, and you hit that cloud, the debuff will reset.

Shouldn't it, though? That sounds like a thing that could be done that could help in making acid a bit better.

I stand corrected. Guess I just never noticed it.

i sorta agree, but the interesting thing is that DF loopy as a plane isn't really overpowered (it has none of the heavy prevalence as laser, nor any of the game flow dominance of TA), it's merely that emp as an ability itself is very overpowered as compared to the other abilities of a loopy. a loopy that lands its emp on you is suddenly very dangerous, whereas if a loopy misses his emp on you he is pretty much no threat at all. if emp is nerfed, a corresponding buff to primary fire would be necessary in order to balance the two abilities.

I feel like you are only talking about TBD here. In ball TA is still OP, but to a lesser extent, EMP is probably slightly OP (if only due to amazing stacking) and laser is totally useless.

As this is the acid thread, back to acid.

I had written a long post but it got lost by my previous button on firefox...

Long story short, I believe the change of making the acid refresh the timer from the same cloud would make a difference that potentially makes acid useful.

1. More control
2. More fear of acid player
3. Can punish TA's more if you catch them at anchor point they are trapped in the acid, with the refreshing timer more often.

It ups the skill ceiling at the top end quit a lot while helping the lower levels to an extent. E.g. a strong acid could potentially fight of a double fire loopy a portion of the time without having to be supremely over skilling him by using acid as a safe zone.

The problem with acid as it is now (and I have a decent amount of experience with this plane) is that it is very situational. Unlike DF, an acid player can't take most planes on 1v1; he must outfly them to succeed. That being said, I think acid is still under-appreciated, esp in ball maps like lostcity and maze where a little acid goes a long way.

I have to agree with SSD that acid doesn't need a buff, emp needs a nerf. While the uber-versatile double fire emp loopy still exists, there's little incentive to go acid unless your team already has at least 2 df loopies. I know I've been on the other side of this debate before, but 2 months of playing almost exclusively whale has lead me to believe that emp is op.

I'm bumping this because there seems to be a lot of balance discussion happening lately and I'm of the opinion that the same cloud should refresh the timer.
