I can't see how cell phone latency would allow the game to be playable.

Ah, I see. I think Android I think its my only connection to the world therefore 3G. If I have wifi, I'm on a laptop.

It's more a case of unfeasible than un-doable.

Pretty sure the usability would be complete and utter trash. Its an interesting concept.. but this is not angry birds.

this is the phone i have it's basically has psp controls. and I think altitude is definitely playable on a gamepad so.. and even on a phone that doesn't have a gamepad like mine, you could just add the buttons onto the touchscreen and it'll work just fine. if there's a way to make altitude for the android and ios and have it be cross-platform with PC servers, that'd be amazing Last edited by peww; 10-25-2011 at 12:55 AM. |

We've already had a ton of threads asking for iOS/Android versions of the game, but the problem is always the same: Altitude is coded in Java. I don't know what languages Android can run, but iOS uses objective C, and to get Altitude to run on such an operating system would mean re-writing the game from scratch.
As the developers already have to work a lot on the patches, they just can't afford to put that time onto such a project.

Also if the developers want to make more money, porting altitude to android would probably generate way more revenue than working on patches. The game is pretty polished as it is anyway |

Android is java based
Hi everyone
Yes, android is 100% java based. If you download the public SDK, you can even compile it with Eclipse and JDK. If Altitude were opensource, I could migrate the code to mobile in a few days, just for fun... but is it not open source. About processing power and latency, if you have any new dual core phone, you probably have more processing power than some netbooks... |

Though he's right that Altitude would probably be easy to port to Android. They've got neat tablets and **** too so np. Only the controls would be so ****, but hey.. don't expect much from someone who's playing on a tablet or a smartphone. Downside prob is performance, even though they sometimes outperform those ****ty little netbooks I still doubt if they'd run alti smoothly. Don't like my ****? gt*o Last edited by Boko; 10-28-2011 at 10:48 PM. |

I think you could find a way to control via tablet, but it would have to be a standalone game I think, as there is no way you could play to the same level as via mouse or keyboard. Please compile it daniel, I'd love to run it on my soon-to-be-bought android tablet (as soon as a non ****ty one is released)
