Hi, I am new to map making and I can't seem to get it working. I am using Inkscape to make images but when I put them on the map, a white square appears around the image. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I also tried using gimp but all the images I put on the map using sprites have that white square around them. Am I supposed to draw out the whole map instead of drawing individual objects to avoid this?

It sounds like you need to enable transparency -- sometimes called "alpha channels" -- in Photoshop a "transparent" image has a white/gray checkered background (sometimes you need to delete a solid background layer to reveal this). You may need to check "enable transparency" during initial creation of the image, or when saving it out to a PNG.

That was exactly what I needed. Thanks!
