Sound problem in Ubuntu 11.10
i'm on Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit.
Altitude runs fine, at the menus sound is working properly. When I enter a game, sounds stop. Initially I thought it was just a driver problem, then I installed all sort of packages to try and solve this. In an old topic here in the forums a user suggested some packages, that in my case did not do the job. Attached are log file (showing some errors) and system info. Thanks in advance for your help. =) |

Did you install Altitude using the Altitude.sh from our download page?
If so try the following: 1) Use Ubuntu software installer to install the latest OpenJDK-6 (7 should work too) 2) Open a terminal window 3) Navigate to the altitude directory (cd /home/luke/altitude) 4) type "mv jre jre_old" 5) Launch altitude This should force Altitude to use OpenJDK java instead of the bundled Sun JVM. You can also try running the game from: http://altitudegame.com/playnow |

Yes, I used the .sh installer.
OpenJDK-6 was already up-to-date, and I had already renamed the jre folder (alti wasn't even starting leaving it with the default name). Launching from website does not solve the problem, either. |

I got the same problem here on Debian. But Im pretty sure its because Im using ALSA instead of PulseAudio. If I remember correctly, it worked fine for me with a clean install of Ubuntu like 2 years ago.

You could try nimblygames.com/test/altitude.sh it uses a software implementation of OpenAL.
