Altitude Ladder Fantasy TBD!
DEM RULES:
- 8 teams, 8 owners - head-to-head scheduling, two week-long matches, round robin until the final 6 weeks of the season, where the top 6 teams play in a single-elimination playoffs (top 2 seeds receive bye weeks). - players are drafted snake-style in a randomly generated order - major stat categories recorded: kills/assists/deaths/xp per 10 minutes and base damage/bomb carrier kills/defuses per match. these categories are used to calculate a combined score, using this formula: (1*kills) + (0.4*assists) - (0.6*deaths) + (0.75*base damage) + (3*bomb carrier kills) and heavy*1.3. each play gets an individual score, the total team scores are matched up head to head. highest score wins. - rosters are submitted on a bi-weekly basis, due by the first sunday of each week. - stats are also calculated on a bi-weekly basis, either the "home" team of each match (the top team on the challonge bracket) will calculate and report the score with the visiting team being able to, obviously, challenge the reported score. (maybe aki can set something up for me) - each team will have two miranda, one loopy, one bomber, one explodet, two light (miranda, loopy, biplane), one heavy (bomber, explodet), one flex (any plane), and two bench spots for substitutions. - you only get recorded stats for games played that week in the slot you played them at. in each "flex" (light/heavy) spot you must specify which plane you are picking each player for, and stats between red perks of the same plane are averaged for each week. i.e if a player averages 20 kills/10 minutes in laser and 10 kills/10 minutes in TA but does not play trickster, he will average 15 kills/10 minutes in miranda. - planes must be played for at least one total hour of playtime in ladder to count - trades are fine and can be vetoed by a majority (6/10) of the managers not involved in the trade. - dropping/adding players can be done at any time during the two week match, but will not be processed until the end of the two weeks. in the event that a player is claimed by the same two people, whoever has the lower overall rank at the end of the two weeks gets the player. - if you are playing, you cannot pick yourself, trade for yourself, or add yourself from free agency. - you draft players by players, not by names or vapor id's. if you "own" a player, you own him regardless of whether he's smurfing or not. signup list rules: - please only sign up if you are motivated and not-lazy enough to manage your team on a week-by-week basis. also having a set schedule is nice for drafting purposes. - you must calculate both your score and your opponent's score if you are the home team. if your score isn't submitted (we'll have a quicktopic or something) by the wednesday following your match without prior notice, the other team will automatically be awarded the win. yeah, just have the k/10m for all red perks and don't calculate that individually, then. that's basically what i meant ^_^

well you wouldn't be able to opt out of being drafted or anything, this isn't like york's FFL or whatever. you just keep playing ladder like you normally do and ppl basically gamble on how well they think you're gonna do

Not to rain on anyone's party, but everyone is still required to play "to the best of their ability to win", whatever that means these days. If anyone is found to be violating that spirit, such as purposely whoring to avoid dying when they are obviously supposed to be pushing with their team, appropriate action will be taken by the admins.
Second, I hope there's a better place to look up stats other than the website. Those stats are notoriously inaccurate, especially when people disconnect/pingkicked. |

i actually think that's a rather interesting dynamic (the stats not being recorded after ping kicks and the like), the stats are already reflected in the overall stats for season 3 and drafting shmo could be like drafting michael vick - you know he's going to give you an awesome 2 weeks 7/10 of your matchups but could have severe stat loss due to disconnect in a key matchup week. kind of like an injured shoulder or something

We should also try to limit the amount of league related interaction between players and owners. AKA you can't tell Andy to play bomber all week because you want to put him in that slot. If Andy decides to publicly announce that he will be playing bomber all week, then that's fine but we should definitely limit collusion.

i actually wasn't all that worried about collusion, but i suppose it couldn't hurt to write in a rule just in case. i'm fine with aki's proposed rule.

Also consider changing the plane comp of the roster to
2 randa 1 loopy 1 bomber 1 explodet 3 lights 1 heavy 1 flex (any plane) Also, the easiest thing to do in terms of players is that owners cannot be drafted but this basically pulls like 6 active lights out of the system so maybe the roster balance would have to get reworked. |

Yea, I'm fine with bench. It was just assumed.
So now i think, ideally it would be: 2 randa 1 loopy 1 bomber 1 explodet 2 lights 1 heavy 1 flex (any plane) 2 Bench The 7 categories are kind of weird but I don't think there's a good 2 to get rid of. Also, what do you think about my suggested 2 rules? 1) Team managers are not eligible for the draft. 2) No collusion between players and owners. yeah i think that would be kind of weird. with the people we have signed up i don't see that as a problem, none are the type to take this super seriously. will have some sort of catch-all just as a reason to remove them from the league in case it does happen and they get caught.
i kind of want to be drafted, i think the bench your opponent and don't draft/pick/trade for yourself rules are adequate for this league |

also was thinking about this a bit on the way to class, we should come up with some sort of formula for scoring points a la fantasy football instead of just going roto-style so we can do fun stuff like mvp, steal of the draft, busts, etc.
ed: something rough would be like (1*kills) + (0.5*assists) - (0.5*deaths) + (0.75*base damage) + (1.25*bomb carrier kills) + (1.25*defuses) and just take xp/10 (pretty redundant) out of the equation entirely. Last edited by sunshineduck; 12-05-2011 at 06:58 PM. |

maybe we should also just take bomb defuses out of the equation? the biggest variance is gonna be a swing of like 1 between otherwise similar players, and at least bomb carrier kills can have decent enough differences.

Also, if we do have a "flex" position, where the player counts for all of his planes, we would need to impose some sort of penalty if that player doesn't play all 5 planes. So like a 5% penalty to the players score for each plane that was not played during those 2 weeks. |
