Default Disappearing Chat

I know some people hate to see the chat thingy-dingy when they are playing a hardcore game of ladder. So I am wondering if you could create an option in the gameplay settings of altitude to make it possible to have the chat disappear when playing, and when you want to talk, you can push "Enter" and chat normally. Kinda like disabling the chat but still being able to chat.

This would reduce people from blaring spec chat when you were in a conversation with your friend who was playing while you watched.

/captureMode 2

Edit: just read the last sentence of the OP. captureMode doesn't change the chat mode for other players, obviously. What you're proposing is that the default setting for all players be /captureMode 2 and/or that no one could change it to /captureMode 0 (standard chat) and then be annoyed by your chatting.

Ladder is for competitive purposes. It's intense, short-lived, and requires focus. Much like CCN, but I digress. If you want to talk about rainbow unicorns, pick a different server. Or be okay with "spec chat pls" followed by a ban if you don't comply.

I tried capture mode 1 today and it sucked. I forgot to try capture mode 2. Is there any different ones?

At your edit: My main point wasn't about people calling spec chat in ladder. Also it was not about being socialist and making everyone have to have it. It was merely an option for some players.

Yeah, try various numbers and see what you like.

The various different view modes change more than just the chat window though. And none of the views remove the sound made when someone messages in team chat. /capture mode 3 works the best iirc as it leaves in things like your health and energy bar, who scored/bombed, etc.

What I would like to see is a capture mode that only showed team chat, and/or a mode that only showed chat from players who are playing (ie not spectating).

Or even a settings page where you could make custom view by being able to choose the features you want to view (e.g. Health bar, all chat, team chat, kill log, level up popups, etc)

I would support that.

My problem with capture mode is that you are unable to see the votes.

Maybe an option where we can choose which parts of the chat we want to see.

- allchat
- teamchat
- votes

I would support that but make it so you can chose what settings you want to have and not be guessing to which capturemode has what things. You should get Karlam to think about this.
