Ladder teams idea
Hey guys,
Just a quick thought. What if there were ladder teams? I was thinking it could be kind of like fantasy sports. You could just group up with a some other people and your collective stats would be the teams stats. You could even leave the normal ladder the same and this would just be a fun side idea. I thought this could be fun. What do you think? |

If you consider a team being GameTypeTeamSize-2, and the other two spots are wild cards, I imagine fantasy teams could be done with the current data on ladder.
For TBD, say I gather a list of how much time you've spent with each other player as your ally, along with how much your average ELO change has been with each. From some algorithm, pick out several "best/common" teams of 2 others plus yourself, then show game average stats with those 2 or 3 teams. I would imagine these "dream teams" would likely not have many games that match having that team all on them until late season. I see this idea as cool on paper, but not practical to put together or getting used. From another point of view, there is already a league for both TBD and Ball to play games of clans vs clans. I don't believe they have stat tracking, and I would love to see them have both player and team wide stat viewing. A problem with team stats is that players switch teams. This complicates the "who they were playing with when" portion. If clan tags were looked at by the code and stored name changes over time, knowing which team someone was on could be known. That name can't be trusted though, as players can change names on a dime. Having clans as a invite only feature that alters a player's name to have the tag in a predetermined order and style that can't be used by players otherwise could lead to such features. |

Hi, Dyno. The Altitude Ladder is actually a community-run project. Nimbly Games (the creators of Altitude) doesn't administrate the Ladder. Since the Suggestions subforum is for feedback to Nimbly Games, I'm going to move this thread to the appropriate subforum.

There are many ways this idea could be implemented. Random pairing, Organized teams, Small teams, Countries, Continents, Planes, etc. All of which I think would make ladder more interesting. It would be tricky but worth it. |
