Game problem!
Greetings everyone,
I'm Slayer. Started playing Altitude when there was the first steam free weekend and now, when I got paypal, I bought it So here is the first problem I launch the game from the Steam Library. As soon as your logo pops up, I can hear a pop up and then it shows me a screen, where I have to change ports in order to start the game. I tried going to 27280 and anywhere close to it, put as soon as I hit ok, it crashes. Here is what I did to try and fix the problem: - 5 fresh reinstalls - Running Steam as admin - Turning off Firewall - Turning off any other bandwith program - Tweaking the options.xml folder and setting the unp to false and the port to 48000 - Verify integrity cache in Steam - Tried running the stand alone with the same problem I would really like to play the game as soon as possible Slayer |

Try turning off any antivirus or internet security software or make sure you properly added an exception for Altitude. Your problem sounds like this other thread:

Alright, so I turned off my Anti Virus ( Avast, only know how to turn off those active stuff) and I forwarded all the ports I tried testing. Nodda.
I also tried turning off Xfire and running Steam in offline mode with no results. I'll try uninstalling Avast now but I'm not sure it will work. |

So I checked my logs and here are a couple of the lines that pop up
Code:
INFO [2011-12-21 13:55:04,389] [main]: Initialized logger: file=log\Launch.log, level=DEBUG, pattern=%p [%d{ISO8601}] [%t]: %m%n, maxFileSize=100KB, maxBackups=1, wasInitialized=false INFO [2011-12-21 13:55:04,761] [main]: Launching 'd:\steam\steamapps\common\altitude\launch-game.xml', args=[] WARN [2011-12-21 13:55:04,763] [main]: Launcher failed to load progress report from update\download\_update-progress.xml Quote:

Start -> Run -> cmd (to open a dos prompt)
In the dos window, type ipconfig From the results, select the "IPv4 Address" corresponding to your primary internet connection. In my case the value is 192.168.1.4 Now, use a text editor to open C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\altitude\config\optio ns.xml On the line starting with <networkOptions... Replace bindIp="ANY" with bindIp="ipv4address_obtained_from_instructions_abo ve" Replace port="27272" with port="48000" Replace upnpEnabled="true" with upnpEnabled="false" Then save options.xml and relaunch Altitude. |

I'm guessing you need to disable any anti-virus/security products.
What happens if you visit this link http://update.altitudegame.com/0.0.3...rce-config.xml in your web browser? Do you see a page like this? <ResourceConfig> <version major="0" minor="0" micro="356"/> <resources> <Resource path="pack_10b493ff" size="252237" crc32="3123552621"/> ... |

Yes, I can see it
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <ResourceConfig> <version major="0" minor="0" micro="356"/> <resources> etc I've said goodbye to my antivirus yesterday and I turned off the firewall aswell. |

Try downloading the standalone version from
http://altitudegame.com And performing the same configuration changes (config file is now C:/program files (x86)/Altitude/config/options.xml). Does that version work? |

Yep, the stand alone version works just fine

Well this issue has been fixed.
Thanks for all your help! (At the end, I copied the files from the stand alone to the steam because steam never downloaded the full game.) |
