Usefulness of reverse thrust
Hey, I started playing altitude a little over a year ago... I played for about 60 hours, then tried to join competitive play. However, I loved the biplane, and back then it was horribly under powered. I've since come back (as of, like, this morning xD) and prestiged.... Before I try competitive play again, I'd like to train in something useful.... I'd like to go back to using biplane HC/Reverse thrust, as I've heard that the biplane has got some buffs recently. However, I also read that reverse thrust is pretty much useless. This makes sense, I've only met one person who was really good at it.
So what do you guys think? Is reverse still useful? Should I just go with HC and some other blue perk? I'm also thinking about taking up bomber or explodet... comments are appreciated |

It's not as good as turbocharger or ultracapacitor, and it's not even close.
That said, who cares, do whatever you want. |

I've been playing reverse explodet this season in tbd ladder, its fun and very micro-intensive but ultimately not as good as other perks. The lack of a quick follow-up from your initial missile/mine due to lack of energy leave you extremely vulnerable unless you can survive long enough to get another one off.
I can't compare this season's data to my previous non-rev seasons due to the data loss, but its not looking too promising so far. My sample size this season is still only about 15 games with a ~50% win ratio though, so I'll continue spinning around for a bit longer. I mentioned in a suggestion thread a while ago how useless rev was but no-one seemed to care. The lack of use in competitive play shows that very few think it is viable. |

I'm still considering Bomber (I suck at explodet) but after trying biplane again, I remember how much fun it is we'll see |

Also, you should try to play as many planes and as many red perks as you can. It will only make you a better player, because you'll know how to respond in many more different situations and help your team more effectively. |

If you're playing bip just make sure you have 140+ ping and you're set. It's also worth while remembering that kills aren't a good indicator of usefulness in ball; while entropy can bip with the best of them it could be argued that if he was a loopy he could have EMP'd and got to the ball when it bounced near the goal and scored.

Also, I don't think loopy has the burst damage to clean the field that quickly, so we may not have had that opportunity if I was a loopy. Last edited by [hlx] entr0py; 12-24-2011 at 02:45 AM. |

Reverse thrust is pretty solid perk in 1dm if you're good with it.

Also, I think most of the "it's useless" and "it's OP" arguments are based around ladder, where rev is not as good in a team setting. -Joe |
