laser is DoT whereas tracker is burst. Being that laser is DoT instead of burst u get a more perfect cutoff on when u stop doing damage after calculating ping differences than if it was burst. Its a bit hard to explain in words in english so ill just do a drawing instead:

- - - - - - - - - - (tracker damage)
inbetween the spaces of the tracker missiles ull be recieveing no damage no matter ping. It might look like u do at times but thats just cause ping differences make missiles hit on enemies screen at different time points than when it hits u on ur screen. so if after ping differences being calculated the damage output stops (ping has realized that rock is now covering enemy plane) INBETWEEN missiles hitting it will look as if u havent lagged as bad as if u were to have a constant damage source (laser).
theres no difference, its all ping folks.
edit: this is btw why it seems like u warp to ur death after being shot (shot after uve warped but shot hit u behind ur warp) or first anchor then die anyways. cause it takes sometime for the dmg to be calculated or for server to realize theres been dmg done to ur plane which could be cool to adress now since ppl love to whine about that lol.
