Default Game Hop #2: TF2 And Vote for Next One

Starting the 27th, the new game is Team Fortress 2 since it got a huge portion of the votes. That'll be the game of choice for about 10 days or so before the next one kicks in. By the way, join the Steam group I set up to make finding players easier.

If you can get in Mumble, do so. Most of the fun with these things comes from sharing the experience with voice chat.

The voting selection this time:

The Battle for Wesnoth
Probably known by quite a few of you, this is a turn-based strategy game with a fantasy theme. At least 200 unit types, 16 races and up to 8 players in online matches. Combat sometimes relies on a bit of luck, but this game is still a lot of fun.

Heroes of Newerth A science-fiction/fantasy strategy game heavily inspired by Defense of the Ancients.

Red Eclipse A FAST first-person shooter that Mikesol and I have been messing around with. Very similar to unreal tournament. While the servers are quite laggy it's a fun game.

Zero-K A fast-paced RTS with streamlined resources and terraforming. I could've picked any from the Spring Engine page, but this one looked the most promising.

Soldat - a 2D multiplayer shooter game. Think Altitude...ON FOOT. Or something.

I know other games were suggested but I wasn't able to find websites to download them from. If you want to suggest a game to add to the list, please provide a link and a brief summary.

Let's hope this one goes better.

It's a typical M-rated shooter, very close to Unreal Tournament.

Just saying (noticed in your previous thread as well) it's Heroes of Newerth, not Newearth

It was hilarious on Mumble hearing you two figure out how the game worked (at least I think it was that game).

Voted for Wesnoth as I'd actually play, I used to be decent at this
Though apparently it was a long time ago as I remember playing it with only like 6 or so races.

^ Dwarf user

I suppose I'd play some hon as well
Would be pretty funny if I got monkey eth cloud and maimer and play against a team from here

May I suggest Company of Heroes.
It's an extremely simple game whereas you can add such tantalizing strategical moves etc.
As well as this, it is easy to get addicted and you can do 2v2 or 3v3 tournaments as this is a territorial game. As well as RTS I think.

Just check it out

If you were to play this or any other strategy game, I'd be interested in buying it and playing it.

Company of Heroes

I think we're only doing free games as we are such a small community.

Oh damn, my bad. Although if anyone is interested in playing, I am getting quite bored of losing to random people, I'd prefer someone I know

I just thought it would only be fair to let people know why I stopped running this so quickly. Fact is the turnouts were pretty slim: usually it was only DN, Sage, Jrath and myself (Apa joined once). I know the timezone differences were part of the reason, the other part being that when ladder is running people would prefer to play that than anything else. Anyways, it was a good experiment. Thanks to all who participated by posting or playing.

Consider it what you want, but it's been a lot of effort with little results. I'd have just as much success just asking the people in Mumble if they'd like to try out a new game. Taking the time to find freeware, setting up a new thread, trying to get a Steam group running....not really worth it when only 2-3 people end up able to play.
