Default F1 2012

Anyone interested in new F1 season? Should be an interesting start to the season at least. Who do you think will win the opener?

I think I'm most excited about Kimi being back and can't wait for more genius interviews like this:
Interviewer: The most exciting moment during the race weekend?
Kimi: I think so it's the race start, always.
Interviewer: The most boring?
Kimi: Now.

Oh and the less said about Sky, the better ....

Anyone but Vettel and Hamilton. Tired of seeing Vettel win and I can't stand Hamilton. I hope Kimi does well.

Favorite Kimi interview came after he finished poorly in a NASCAR race...
Reporter: Kimi, what are you going to do to improve your finish in the next race?
Kimi: My finnish is fine, I am from Finland...

I lol'd

Since I am a nascar fan I will comment on this. While both series heavily favor well-funded teams, nascar does seem to be on more equal of a playing field. The team with the most money doesn't always win. In F1, I saw a brand new start up team with unlimited funds go out and dominate an entire season. (the Brawn team) And now I see Red Bull, even though they have paid their dues by suffering through their first few seasons, dominating. It's just boring and predictable. I respect both series but if I want to watch the more exciting one, I will choose nascar.

In the same way that American Football is like watch grown men in funny padded costumes chasing an egg round a field, with 5 minute breaks every 10 seconds.

I'm flattered that you'd call it 'British' Football, but it's just Football, because everywhere bar America plays it. I think you've been watching the Spaniards play too much.

I recently have gotten into F1 again and am avidly following the season this year. Yes, money does = success to a fair degree, but it's always exciting nonetheless. I think it's extra cool when a driver with an inferior machine shows he can wrestle it into a respectable position through sheer grit and skill.

Anyway, I don't really have any favorites at this point except for a general english slant (happen to be half from my dad's side). Go Button, congrats on the win.

f1 > nascar
1.) Making an optimum turn requires much more adaptable skill as all of the course layouts are different.
2.) Turning directions other than left is more interesting to watch.
3.) Turning (no matter the direction) is made more interesting by the fact that the drivers actually have to negotiate each other's position in more dynamic ways in the corners. (braking / apexing / throttle timing)
4.) KERS / DRS
5.) More of an international and diverse crowd of drivers, teams, and track scenery (no offense middle america, you're just not that interesting to me).
6.) Do I really need to go on? No, probably not. This is an F1 thread after all.
Oh what the hell, I'll put one more.
7.) Ayrton Senna is as inspiring, if not more so than Bruce Lee, Gandhi, or any other awesome man in history.

Cheers guys. I'll post or contribute to a thread during Malaysia GP.

I just learned that for the first time in F1 history there are six world champions in the pack.

Perhaps we're going to be watching the most closely competitive season ever this year?

Also, selfish those vids are hilarious.
