Default ball_riverbed

Version 0.1Initial version
Version 0.2Added missing walls. For those with larger screens, is the parallax too small? Feedback on this & rock placement is appreciated.
Version 0.3Blurred the background slightly more noticeably in response to feedback.

Current version: http://cl.ly/F8HQ

Note that the background in this screenshot looks stretched for some reason (it's parallax), and the grass doesn't have collidable edges when in-game.

This is my first attempt at creating something other than a coop map, so please leave some feedback! Hope you enjoy.

Blurry backgrounds don't work well for this game, so you need to fix that asap.

I have had no luck getting images from a camera to look right. I'm still bothered by how ball_underground looks.

Hey, I'm not dismissing your feedback, but have you all actually tried the map on the map test server? The appearance in-game is completely different from how the screenshot appears. For some reason, when the map editor takes a screenshot it stretches out the parallax background to fit the screen. The background itself fits quite nicely in my opinion when it's actually viewed in the game.

You should probably add multiple spawn points to avoid spawn stacking.

Thanks Flexio, that was one of the fixes on my todo-list.

I don't see the word beastie anywhere.

Hmm, why of course! This map should've been in dedication of the one and only beastie.

Yes, I have. I immediately felt slight strain on my eyes, and I guarantee you that there will be players for whom the strain is much greater and they'll simply write the map off as unplayable because of it.

Blur is great when used in static environments, but not when the view is shifting so rapidly back and forth as it does in Altitude.

I don't know what feedback convinced you to use a blurred background but I'd hazard a guess that it was along the lines of 'foreground and background not distinguishable enough'. I've made that mistake before.

You may want to consider simply making the background much darker and the foreground objects a bit brighter, it would work better than blurring the background.

Good map layout... Plays well.

But I agree with silent skies... the background is tough to deal with. Frankly, it gives me a headache.

It either needs to be 'dimmer' so it not such a strain, or brought into focus so that it is less distracting. Even tuning the color of the background down would be easier to deal with.
