some ideas

i was thinking of some little ideas. on idea i when you download a map, there could be a choice of music for the person to listen to when the map is downloading. the guy who runs the servers could open up the server configurator and upload music so tha song could play. also, you could upload a variety of songs so during gameplay on the command panel a person could vote to play a song or number of songs. and if people dont want to hear the music, then they type/mute song to mute the song on his computer. the thing where it tells you when people change teams could also tell you what song is playing. for example, if i was admin, i could type /change song 'bullet with butterfly wings' know what i mean? its just a little idea. also, when you win a round, it could say VICTORY!!! and show a victory scene like planes flying around and the base in perfect conditionand it could play victory music. and for the people who lose, it could say defeat... and show planes on fire and the base exploding and it would be playing some sad music. like i said, just some ideas.

.. so now we have to wait for the map AND the song to download?

Would we have a song playing while the other song downloads? If so, I'm sold.

well, when you connect to the server, it would automatically download it in the background while you play, and it shouldnt take very long because the songs are a lot smaller than the maps.

thatd be actually rather nice. to have the maps download while you play. all the maps on the server will download while you play so you dont have to wait

Downloads really don't take that long to warrant hold music, and like someone said using additional bandwidth that could be used for the map download to play music is kind of silly. Unless you or the server you're connecting to has a bad connection, most maps take like 20 seconds.

OK. Bear with me now because I'm just brainstorming here, but what if Altitude, instead of downloading maps or music, downloads porn in the background while we play?

Edit: slip had an excellent idea: we also have the option of displaying the images/video/audio? as the background to any map.

I really think this one's a winner.

You do realize that any downloads in the background while playing will create lag, right? In game downloading isn't practical, and if it was, it would already be a part of the game.

As far as music goes, people listen to their own music 99% of the time anyway. I can't see myself being anything other than frustrated if I had to subject myself to the musical tastes of every server admin in altitude, and then subsequently mute that music every time I join a game.
