Commands:
The servers run a script made by 19 cm (older version can be found here). This is the script used on all 'G' servers. The following commands are available to you:
  • /cmds: Displays all the commands available.
  • /about: Displays some info about the server.
  • /rules: Displays the server rules.
  • /help: Displays general help.
  • /spec: This assigns you to the spectators.
  • /who: Displays the planes and perks of people alive at that time.
  • !admin: Displays server administrators.
They all can be triggered with a / or a ! in front of them. So if you type !rules or /rules doesn't matter, it will show you the server rules. Exception to this is the admin command, this can only be triggered with a !.

In addition to most of the standard /vote commands, we have the following:
  • /vote go 'servername': This vote lets you change servers! If it passes, everyone will get switched to the server being voted for. For example this comes in handy after a scrim in the private server; usually we all wanna go bladder then and we can do this now with only 1 vote! We currently can go to 12 servers:
    • [x SMILE x] Private 1
    • [x SMILE x] Private 2
    • Ball Dojo
    • Vlix Pub
    • Vlix Private 1
    • Vlix Private 2
    • TADOW!
    • Zero Gravity Server
    • All 4 APL servers
    • /Vote go bladder wont work anymore in this server, since new players can bypass the ladder password this way..
  • /vote startRandom: If you don't like the map that will be played next, you can try this command. If it passes, it will change the map to a random one.
  • /vote show boobies: Just something we do in co-op :P.

Everything is great. Especially I liked /vote go command. But the problem is, that if you /vote go to bladder server, we will bypass password. JW and I checked it out. We gotta fix this problem

So for some reason it disconnects everyone where there are a lot of people in it; I will try to fix it and if I can't, I guess I have to shut them down..

In co-op we never had this problem, so I guess it has to do with the ball mode, idk

Yeah, I told that to people who were in SMILE server yesterday.

@Crack: How about to remove /go cmd from from SMILE pub, and leave it only in SMILE private? So we won't have any problem with players

Ya I will do this. Wasnt the plan to get the pub back up, but now that it is I will disable that go vote in the pub. (the vote will still appear in the pub since its active in the private server, but it wont do anything if it passes)

Edit: Btw, if someone knows a way to code this by not bypassing the password, please let me know.. (just keeping the password blank in the code doesn't work)

Should be fixed now.

Server now starts with default 256 mb vs 128 mb.

And can expand till 512 mb.

I've noticed the hitches occured when it was crowded and i'm blaming memory shortage. So let's hope this fixed it.

I'll be monitoring it though and if it's not fixed i'll continue digging.

Server will have some downtime today, because a new router is being installed. We hope this will fix all lag/disconnect problems! Also the IP has changed, so be sure to favorite the servers again! x]

Hey, Crack. You remember, that yesterday we had problem with /StartTourny cmd. I don't know is it fixed or not, but I remember that I typed cmd. Despite that in chat_log said it worked, tourny cmd didn't work. We need to fix that bug, till sunday.

Cheers

Because we ended the scrim pretty fast, I had the time to check the config of the time when the starttourney didn't work. This is what I said:

[port 27279] Server config size (1496 bytes) exceeds max allowed size (1450 bytes).[port 27279]
[port 27279] Reduce the server config size by removing maps from the map list and map rotation.[port 27279]
[port 27279] Trim the config using the Server Configurator tool or by manually editing launcher_config.xml[port 27279]

So I think that means that we have too many maps on that server, so I removed a lot of maps (that get no play time), so I think it is really fixed now! x] Or I hope so

Update!
  • Updated ball_canopy.
  • Added /go votes to the APL servers, Vlix Private 1, Vlix Private 2, TADOW and the Zero Gravity server, so we can easily switch to those private servers if we have to (e.g. for our third game).
  • Added all SMILE players registered for SL to admin list of all servers.
  • Added DN, SSD, Andy, Soccernamlak, Mikesol and AKI (as SL admins) to the admin list of [x SMILE x] Private I and II.
In SkyLeague we will be using [x SMILE x] Private I as our home server, to play the first 2 games of a home match or the third game of a away match. Therefore please don't use that server.

Feel free to use [x SMILE x] Private II if you want to play your matches in a EU server, everyone is welcome there x]

Nice updates. I really like them. On the one hand having every smiler as admin in SL pubs is great. But on the other hand, we will have lot of people who will auto-join quite for a long time, if we have for example 6 SMILErs online in pub servers. Adding SL admins as admins of SMILE servers is also good, but Andy is least active of them.

Server just completely crashed >.> It should be up again.

We attached a 1.5 TB disk via a sata to usb controller and the disk management service on the Hyper V stopped responding. And because off that all virtual machines crashed. The raid 5 of my storage server went into resync as well, yay.. After 2 reboots everything seems fine again.

Ordered a new sata to usb controller. This one is going in the bin.

Server will be going down tonight at 22:00 gmt +1. It's being reinstalled completely. (Well the underlying host, not the game server it self)

I'm changing it from windows server 2008r2 + HyperV on which 2008r2 + altitude runs as a virtual machine into ESXi. The same 2008r2 guest will still run on top of it.

I'm also changing the file server guest of 2008r2 with a 6x 3 TB raid 5 into FreeBSD + ZFS. Which will take most of the time due to the file copy involved in this.

I'm aiming to have the server back somewhere on Sunday.

Fairly annoying :P It's going to be down for another week most likely, got to wait for replacement HDD's. I scanned all HDD's now that I killed the raid to make sure they were still okay. A year ago when I bought them I did the same thing. 2 of the 6, 3T hdd's got a bad sector in it though.

http://i.imgur.com/PgwnVpm.png
http://i.imgur.com/SeZcZt0.png

Ooh and ESXi refused to install on my hardware because it didn't have a compatible driver for my nic. So took me 2 hours to find a modded community driver online, patch that into the esxi iso and then it did want to install.

I got ESXi running at the moment. But just realised I can't pass through the hdd's to the File server virtual machine (FreeBSD) without VT-d. I thought all intel CPU's had VT-d Turns out the k series don't.. And I have a i5 3570k. Does have VT-x though.

So yea.. ESXi is off the hook. I'm just going to install FreeBSD on the hardware directly and use VirtualBox to virtualise the windows game server on top of that and run other services in FreeBSD jails.

So yea, that's about it

New HDD's come in on tuesday. So then I can build the raid array and start moving all the data back. So probably during the weekend after that, that I'll be able to put the server back online.

Right now I'm configuring the FreeBSD OS on the 2x 1 TB raid 1.

Status:

I currently have FreeBSD 9.1 installed on top of 2x 1 TB encrypted with GELI and with a ZFS mirror on top of that. I also got NFS working properly.

Just finished installing Virtualbox headless and got the Windows Server 2008r2 virtual machine on which the altitude stuff is installed running on it

Had to convert it to .ova / .ovf format from the HyperV format, but it's running beautifully now.

Tomorrow I'm getting my hdd's. I'll probably drive the server back to my friends place with the fiber somewhere around Friday.
