Default Kuja On Week 4 + Big Six Analysis

Server - Summer League #1
********HOME***AWAY**********

2:00 PM [L*] -vs.- [fLbSS]
The day started off with a truely excellent match in that of fLbSS v L*. L* brought their core trio of Protest/Gumby/Moxie to the table, while SS had their explo heavy backbone and their new Miranda bomb runner in their arsenal today. It started out rough for team fLbSS, game 1 was on Asteroids and team leader Texas got disconnected at the beginning of the game and for over half the match they had to play a man down. L* played stellar game 1 and the SS were off their game from the get go. In the end the SS just couldn't make up the difference lost game 1 of the series. Game 2 they went to Lost City where the SS's new bomb runner Mikesol really got a chance to shine. By seizing man advantages each and every chance they could and by Mikesol's Time Anchor relentlessly abusing the maps geography the SS tied it up 1-1. Game 3 was a long epic slug fest on Middleground. The SS mindset had changed dramatically from the serious atmosphere they had when they got thrashed in game 1 to a pack of no stress bumbling idiots lolling at their errors. At the end of the day despite some very impressive defense from L* they just couldn't hold off the carefree SS team, 2-1 fLbSS. This match was best of the day all 3 games were treats to watch, expect it on Youtube in the near future.

3:00 PM [fLbSS] -vs.- [fLb]
fLb had to play this series a man down and the fLbSS had serious momentum on their side from their previous victory. Despite this fLb put up a fierce effort game 1 scoring a bomb hit but just couldnt account for the numbers difference, 1-0 SS. Game 2 fLb changed their strategy dramatically in terms of plane composition, these adjustments allowed the fLb an additional 2 bombs on the SS base however once again the man advantage was to great, 2-0 fLbSS. The SS played some of the best games they had ever played today full props. This match was also recorded and should be expected on Youtube in the near future.

4:00 PM [fLb] -vs.- [J.C.]
After their loss to the SS, fLb was out for blood pure and simple. J.C. in past weeks has been plagued by a lack or organization and their team roster seems to change each week. fLb was still a man down however for game 1 JCs 5th was late so it was a 4v4. It was a short and sweet affair ending in less then 7 minutes, very one sided in fLbs favor who took it to J.C. 1-0. Game 2 J.C.'s 5th had arrived and it was another 4v5 match for the fLb. J.C.'s unfamiliarity their members have with each other hurt them in terms of coordination and team play, both of which were sorely needed. Game 2 even with an additional man was pretty much a replay of the previous game. fLb made short work of J.C, 2-0.

5:00 PM [J.C.] -vs.- [FN]
FN had been dogged by many of the other teams since the beginning of the tourney as "just another face." They were out there today playing with something to prove. However their attendance definitely didn't show this as many of their supposedly better players (Ballin' and Hurripilot) did not show. Game 1 FN only had 4 players against 5 J.C.'s 5. As previously mentioned J.C. has team play and decision making issues however it is becoming more and more evident a man advantage trumps all other deficiencies. J.C comfortably took game 1 without receiving a single bomb hit. It was looking quite bleak for FN until a 5th player showed up for them between game 1 and 2. Game 2 FN completely turned the tables and delivered a crushing victory in swift order. It came down to a final game to decide the set and FN was riding a wave of confidence. J.C. just couldnt recreate the savvy play they had in Game 1 and yielded the series in favor of FN in a quick 3rd match, 2-1 FN.

6:00 PM [FN] -vs.- PX|
Walk over victory in favor of FN, PX didn't show no match was played.

7:00 PM PX| -vs.- {bc09}
Unplayed

Server - Summer League #2
********HOME***AWAY**********

1:00 PM {bc09} -vs.- ACE
ACE started off slow offensively in game 1 on caves, which is quite uncharacteristically odd of them. After a while they turned on the gas however and delivered a 1-0 lead with no hits on their base. ACE would have none of that sloppy offense in the next game however. Game 2 on Asteroids ACE came out swingin' with the swift blitz offense most teams familiarize ACE with and they were delivering a far more dominant performance than game 1. However bc09 lit their own afterburners and fought back landing a bomb hit on the ACE base. While a valiant effort bc09 just didnt have ACE in their cards, 2-0 ACE.

2:00 PM ACE -vs.- [420]
420 only had 3 show up to this match, while ACE had 4. ACE decided to be chivalrous in this series and agreed to a 3v3. Game 1 on woods was quite the back and forth exchange. Due to that random nature of 3v3 both sides found it quite easy to sneak several bomb hits past each other. In the end however it was ACE who clenched it with their tenacious counter-offensives. Game 2 on Mayhem was quite the one man affair. Zidane from ACE, without the aid of his team, solo ran two bomb hits in this game, much to the dismay of 420. 420 once again managed to score a hit however it was to little to late as they quickly found their base in pieces, ACE's superior map control won it for them this day, 2-0 ACE.

3:00 PM [420] -vs.- [IT]
I lack intimate details of this series however from what I gather it was quite a close race. IT won it out in both games 1 and 2 both by slim margins, however at the end of the day there was no denying IT was the better squad, 2-0 IT.

4:00 PM [IT] -vs.- [$]
$ has been highly under rated through out the league and their record is deceiving. Many of their losses are due to their better players not showing up. Many scoff at them because not all their players are lvl 60, however after today this series they definitely earned some respect. $ squeeked out both games narrowly but affirmatively, however the real story is IT's Flight666 who played like a hero and nailed more bomb hits then any other player in this series. Look out for IT and $ in future leagues they both are looking far sharper when this tourney began. For now however we bid them farewell from this competition, but $ doesn't leave without the parting gift of victory, 2-0 $.

5:00 PM [$] -vs.- [ZS]
Going into this many people considered the result obvious. Most betting men and women would put these 2 teams on different tiers of play. One having been in the previous league and being highly seasoned while the other doesn't even mount a full team of lvl 60s. However it was not nearly this cut and dry. Game 1 was on mayhem a map notorious for upsets and thats exactly what happened. ZS defensive specialist Eliteagent was off his game and let a double bomb run hit doubly on his watch putting $ at a serious advantage which they rode on to victory in set 1. ZS was shaken and in dismay at seeing what they thought would be an easy victory slip away. They started game 2 horrendously and took 2 bomb hits before even getting themselves on the board. Fortunately for ZS they managed to find a rhythm and pulled off a comeback in game 2 despite much intra team bickering. $ had fallen out of their groove and ZS had regained their mental edge heading into game 3. ZS finally played like the team everyone thought they were and only let $ get a single bomb by before closing out this series, 2-1 ZS.

6:00 PM [ZS] -vs.- [L*]
This series had the potential to be a show stealer. Unfortunately however it did not live up to its hype. ZS were nothing like the beasts that took L* to the limit a man down a few weeks back and L* had two of their three musketeers present (gumby, moxie, and protest). Game 1 and 2 were essentially both the same story. ZS could not establish any presence whatsoever on the map due to their inferior teamwork and their dated defensive tactics such as waiting with reflector on the ramp continued to fail them. The series dragged on a little longer then it had to namely due to moxie lobbing a few bombs prematurely, a little to eager to put the this dying animal of a series away. We did not see anything close to the best of ZS today overall it was quite dissapointing, hopefully theyl pick it up in time for the coming playoffs, 2-0 L*.

Also: "every player knows their teammates inside and out."

Interesting tactic.
