Stop me if this has already been suggested, or exists.
The only bad thing about 1DM is how long most of the players have to wait, dead, in-between matches. What about a map that acts exactly like 1DM, but when you die you go to a skirmish area where the points do not count towards the match total. You would still have something to do and level your character, and the integrity of which team won the 1DM matches would remain. To reiterate, if that was not clear. The map would be in two separate areas. Main, 1DM area where everyone spawns at the beginning of the match. And the skirmish area where all unofficial fighting takes place. |

This isn't possible with community code outside of honor system. All spawns are eligible each flight. The honor system of this uses normal TBD with spawns that allow entry into both areas. First life everyone flys into the field. Second and later flights those players fly into the skirmish area.
How long are players sitting around after death waiting for the next round in this mode? I haven't played it before. I feel a better solution would be to put a round time limit that works similarly to a basketball shot clock. You can't hang around forever waiting for the other side to mess up and crash. 1 or 2 minutes per life round? |

I'm pretty sure you can adjust the spawn time in between deaths. Just gotta tell the admin of the server.

5 seconds of play and then waiting 2 minutes is a big deal. And it not that uncommon. Don't those environmental based quest maps have variable spawning? Could the map makers not make a 1DM style map with these mechanics on them (1DE?)?. |

Outside of crashing, I don't think it is possible to die on any of these maps in 5 seconds. If so, the map is designed wrong. If your skill and patience levels are as you suggest, a one death game mode is not a good fit for you.
