Also, 499$ for the console and about 100$ per game? What exactly are they thinking?

I dont see why anyone would get a Wii for just two good games, which seem little different from the first Wii version.

Those were just the main ones, I'm also interested in metroid. I love platformer games the most nowadays (probably always did, am bored with FPSs) and I think Nintendo still gets that formula working better than anybody else (rayman origins and legends are notable exceptions though).

Everyone keeps telling me if I love platfomers I should get a Wii.. that's kinda sad.

I should rephrase my original sentence, "Everyone keeps telling me if I love (AWESOME, REAL, HIGH QUALITY) platfomers I should get a Wii.. that's kinda sad." and not doodle jump. Also phone = no chance for local co-op.

And why on the holy hell would I use a phone for any serious gaming? Touch screen platformers on a tiny screen? Or do you think I should buy a controller for a phone... Am I the only sees how pointless this is...

You're right, Tek, mobile devices aren't good for substituting gaming consoles, at least not right now. Most touch based games are rubbish, but there are a few exceptions. If you have an iOS or Android phone or tablet, give Rayman: Jungle Run a try. As you said with Rayman on PC and consoles, the mobile version is great as well. There's also Storm in a Teacup on iOS (although I played that on Steam) and LostWinds (which I'm planning to buy).

As for the topic: I have never owned a console and probably won't in the foreseeable future, but if I had to choose between the two, knowing what is known about them now, I'd go for the PlayStation too, mainly because of the price.

PS4 best price and 2nd hand games handling, best hardware, most dedicated console for gaming

XB1, better games/exclusives imo. XB1 should throw some extras otherwise i might buy a PS4 although i like the XB1 games more.

I'm getting a Wii U because I enjoy playing multiplayer games in person. Nobody does them better than Nintendo. Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. and the new Super Mario 3D World (except for the creepy cat costume) will be great choices for a group of friends. Plus I won't have to pay a subscription if I do choose to play online. Then of course there's Metroid, Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, MUTHAFOCKIN' DUCKTALES REMASTERED, and bound to be plenty more quality titles for the solo gamer.

I went over to Best Buy the other day and played/watched at their Nintendo Experience event and was quite pleased with how Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World were looking.

Nintendo's launch was the second worst they've ever done, but once the titles start coming out they'll be fine. All this ridiculous speculation about how much trouble Nintendo is in is highly exaggerated. XBox One is in a bit of trouble though...unless they remove the 24-hour check-in. PS4 is very likely to lead in sales coming out of the gate.

Do you have to play on that retarded control though? Because really that just looks terrible. Also there are plenty of great multiplayer Playstation games...

Fifa, motorstorm, cod, and plenty others are great for multiplayer.

I guess the main issue I have with the Wii U (and other nintendo stuff) is that all they seem to do is endless rehashes of classics. I mean yes mario is great, but come on cant they do anything new?

Not sure what your issue with the Wiimote is, personally I find it comfortable and much more approachable for my younger relatives than the others.

*sigh* I wanted to avoid having a console war argument and show support for Sony's smart decisions this time around but I guess I feel dragged into one.

But wait...what? You complain that Nintendo doesn't do anything new than list 3 franchises with a sports game and racing game included.

Here's a list of a few black sheeps: Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Legend of Zelda: Windwaker. These strayed pretty far from their original and were highly regarded. They do try new things: Nintendogs, Animal Crossing and Pikmin were pretty strange at their debuts. Like any successful company though they come back to what they know works and they continue to push it and perfect it.

I really do feel Nintendo has control of local multiplayer (you could perhaps argue for system-linked games but I'm more focused on a single console).

Just throwing it out there that things like call of duty or fifa are not good party games at all. Things like mario party, nintendoland, mario kart, etc - are good party games. If you play with more casual people (like who I tend to play with) - I have yet to find any good playstation or xbox games that can handle that.

Sure things like mario kart are rehashes of classics - but it's done well. At the same time, games like nintendoland are completely different and highlight just how awesome the wii u controller can be.

Well I only mentioned those because I was going for specificly casual multiplayer games... I guess I don't really play those sort of games much so I wouldn't know a whole lot about them.

Its not just that they are updating franchises/popular games its just that they seem to do little else than that, and personally when the Wii U is still £200 to play these games essentially again just on a new console... well it just doesn't seem like the best option to me.

Not gonna deny that games like mariokart are fun however, I do have a Wii in the house but even so I only find myself playing it with my siblings/younger kids if I have to.

As it is for many. I mean black sheep as in unique within the series, not the shunned one.

Little Big Planet Karting
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
Starhawk

Are really fun to play with friends, but yes definitely Nintendo has way more party and local co-op party games than any other system. There are still some amazingly fun games on the PS3 though like Ratchet & Clank - Tools of Destruction and Crack in Time. Still thinking whether I should get a Wii U rather than a PS4, I already have a good taste of the Playstation universe so to speak and it's pretty damn good.

The only thing I've found interesting in xbox exclusives are Halo and Gears of War. Nothing more.

Apparently the Xbox One won't be available in my country at launch, so if I wanted to buy a new gen console for this Christmas, I would probably be restricted to the PS4.

Lakos, even if xbox WAS available in your country, I'd still suggest you should get a PS4

Microsoft made a lot of bad moves like trying to make the xbox some kind of entertainment device and this "always on" stuff, and how you must buy the Xbox One with a Kinect. However, it's not like it's going to suck. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the PS3 $600 when it was released and everyone thought that was ridiculous? They had problems too. Well, I'm sure later on when Microsoft opens their eyes and see how many people are hating on the Xbox One, they're going to allow a purchase without the Kinect and it'll be priced the same as the PS4. For used games, not man people are actually aware, but used games will be available, just in an odd way where Microsoft gets a profit from it.

I don't want to buy any console, I'm just saying that this Christmas will be zero Xbox One sales in Hungary and not just here, but many more EU countries like Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania and Bulgaria. (Assuming they won't add these countries until then.) In the meantime, PS4's will be purchased. I don't know how many, but definitely more than the non-available Xbox.

Microsoft just announced that they are backing away from their used games policy. Also, there won't be a 24 hour check-in anymore.

So any of you pre-ordered or planning to get one of these 2 consoles soon?

Also, anyone has a Wii U, how'd you recommend it?? I already have a PS3 so I'm wondering if I should get a taste of Nintendo than going in for a PS4.

I'm was planning to get either of those by the end of this year with my brother, still not sure which one although we are slightly more inclined to the PS4. I've never had a Nintendo console other than a limited edition Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness GameCube, which I gave away a few years ago, so I can't really judge on the Wii U.
