SL 10 Preseason
Sunday 1st of June 2014, 2PM EDT/6PM GMT/6PM UTC/11AM PDT Servers: Vanishing's Ladder servers Seedings were done randomly. Style: BO1 double elimination tournament. Top seed (lowest number) picks map from list below, bottom seed (highest number) picks server Teams can substitute twice during a game. 6 players + 1 sub will start the game. I won't be there, if any questions arise please contact: SSD, Aki, Van, or ball'n To encourage teams to try a little more. Results of preseason will be used as a last resort for tie-breakers in the regular season if needed. Maps: 1. ball_asteroids 2. ball_cave 3. ball_core 4. ball_cross 5. ball_funnelpark 6. ball_hardcourt (original unless server only has updated ver.) 7. ball_grotto 8. ball_ice 9. ball_illumination 10. ball_labyrinth 11. ball_lostcity 12. ball_mayhem2 13. ball_maze 14. ball_planepark 15. ball_skylands 16. ball_snow 17. ball_warehouse |

System for choosing map and server seems bad to me. For instance AK volare and vlix will probably be unable to pick a single map for the entire bracket. I know preseason doesn't count for anything but I think a coin toss (i.e. picking 1 or 2) would make more sense / be more fun

If there is any interest I could add a random map option that only uses SL maps. This could either be for like the ball_random which will change to a random map, a command that outputs a random map name in server message, or a command that outputs 3 random maps in server message with each team getting to veto one map.
Probably a bit late to get any response to this but coding any of these would only take a couple minutes. |

This could work really well today actually - and it would be a good solution to the problem that Fart pointed out.

If Vanishing can get that set up before SL we can do that (higher number seed would veto first) server choice in this case could be determined either by 1-2 or again if vanishing could output a random choice of either say a or b where a is the high seed and b is low seed that can work as well. Otherwise we can change to a 1-2 system with the winner choosing either server or map and the loser picking the other.

I have added two commands:
/voteRandNum <max> - If vote passes a random number between 1 and max is picked. (max has to be between 2 and 9) /voteRandSLMaps <num> - If vote passes <num> random SL maps are listed. (num has to be between 1 and 9) Both of these can only be called in lobby, which is currently named seasonend. |

SO for preseason only, generate one random map unless teams agree to veto from a best of 3. Use the random number generator to do 1-2 to help determine who picks server.

So, after showing up for 1/2 games, will Volare be allowed to play in SL?

Imo there is no point in excluding teams since the community is so small. I'd rather do so that if a team misses more than half of their games then all of the upcoming games and already played games are nullified. Teams would also be excluded from the playoffs or given automatically the lowest seed.

I agree with J, they had 5 online yesterday so imo they should be given a chance. Maybe introduce a minimum roster size of 12 so they pick up a few more recruits.

Volare will be able to participate in the games. I would like to see at least 10 players registered before Saturday and ideally 12 is a nice sweet spot. If for some reason a team doesn't show up for two weeks in a row(without notice), I will dq them and give everyone a 2-0 win against them.
