Theater-going
By popular demand, we present to you PUBLIC POLL: THEATER-GOING Description: Suppose there is a film that is supposedly visually, aurally, and plotfully spectacular. Suppose it is so spectacular that it would therefore be a heinous crime against the film, art, and humanity in general to experience it on a screen smaller than 11 Darth Vaders wide and 8 Darth Vaders tall and/or on a sound system whose collective amps output fewer than several thousand watts rms. Also suppose that you are the epitome of friendless, incredibly lonely supervirginite and have no one to go see it with. Would you go to the movie theater to see it... ...alone? |

Update:
Back in December I went and saw Interstellar alone in IMAX and it was great. It was early in the week, late at night after a gig so almost nobody was at the AMC. Saw like four people in the entire complex including the ticket guy and a lost-looking drunk woman that I carefully ignored. Bar was open too and somehow very very clean. Had the entire theater almost to myself and the best seat in the house. Even though the overall mix was kind of oddly done, Zimmy's thankfully brong-less score shook the roof on that vaunted IMAX sound system. And, for the first time in eight years, I didn't have to worry about some female and her intents/activities regarding my face/ear/neck/index finger/knee/e*******t s****n. All in all it was glorious. Experience: 9.35/10 would do again if bar had better whiskey selection Movie: 8.8/10 visual feast carries the movie. would be closer to 9 if zimmy/nolan stopped trying to blow out subs instead of mixing actual dialogue |

I'd say that here was, sort of, a plot, more in the sense of there could have been a plot, but maybe, yes, it was, definitively, an ambiguous kind of sense that when it comes to, say, the old traditional idea of the regular definition of a plot, one might vaguely attempt a clear notion of how, in several cases, the plot, as such, or not as such, was, in fact, quite present in a manner more befitting, for example, an item of our world, or not of our world, as some people choose to believe, or say outwardly, more inline with like, a poltergeist, or perhaps the crudely bandied-about word of ghost or spectre, so in summary, the general view of this author is, like many, or few, depending on, obviously, several factors, which are probably implicit in this, the review, or rather that, the review already having been posted, that yes, there is, um, a semblance that may or may not be a reasonable facsimile of the plot, quote unquote, that we may see to have permeated much of mainstream films for a greater part of non-arthouse cinema, for whichever criterion, or criteria, such cinema may be classified, for the last century or so. edit: yes |
