Default ball_swarm2

Anyone feel like fixing up ball_swarm2? I have nothing to contribute other than a couple suggestions to make the games quicker. I couldn't even find a screenshot of the map or I'd have put something more in this post. Theres a site in the stickied thread on this forum where I'm sure the map file is, but no search feature -- wtf?

It seemed like a map people liked, but games went too long. It had it's own feel to it and maps with a distinct style are the kind we should be trying to add. If we just freed up a little space and moved the spawns closer to mid, which has worked for fixing other fortress defense maps, it could be an easy and quick add to competitive play

This is a screenshot from ball_swarm2 (original) from my alti directory

Heh, in my experience games on this map took awhile, at least on the first version

Oh yeah, instead using the forums search feature, just google it instead imo

So I just thought I'd mess around with it to see if I could do anything. I did not fix the spawns but I did free some space up. Not sure if this will be any good but I thought I would try. I named it ball_swarm3 so I would not get it confused with ball_swarm2. Hope I helped in some way!

Brutal your changes look fine but the very center is still cluttered, maybe remove that one extra hex?

Otherwise looks like the lanes are better for offense, would be interested to play this map again.

edit: i like the light hexagons you added in the background moved screenshot of old one to the OP

When you guys get this map balanced out and ready for testing... I will be happy to host it on Dojo II.

I recreated this map using textures which makes editing the entire map easy. Here is the the new version of swarm that I am putting on ladder right now:

While there are a relatively high number of powerup spawns, the spawn timer is longer than normal except for top middle.

Map was the same size as swarm2 which I thought was too big. First ladder game seemed to confirm this so I scaled the entire map down. Layout is the same but everything is smaller than it was.
