Default HTTP Altitude Server Hosting? (faster map DLing)

Here recently, I've been running a few servers out of a personal server box, but have been having issues with lengthy download times (since most of my maps aren't default). One player on the server mentioned something about HTTP hosting of the server to reduce these times, and that Ball Dojo used something of the sort.

I'm not completely sure what this member was talking about, but I would love to help new members get into the servers faster on their first play-through. If you've got any leads or tips, please let me know!

In the Server Configurator there is an option for each server "Map Download Source". Put in a web server directory there which contains all the maps for your server.

So like http://<domain or server IP address>/maps

Maps will then be downloaded from the maps directory on that HTTP server. I believe the "official" maps always download from Altitude servers but any other maps will download from here.

If you don't have a web (HTTP) server, nginx is usually easy to install if running Linux.

That's extremely helpful information, thank you! I'm not running Linux, but I've heard Apache Server is a good alternative for Windows users.
