Altitude ProLeague Season 2 Registration
Welcome to the 2nd Altitude League! With a lot of teams being created, everyone wants a shot at being the best and proving who has the better dog-fighting skills. I hope a lot of teams sign up, and i hope everyone has fun. The format and rules are going to be the same as they were for the Summer League. I pretty much copied and pasted them from the original tournament thread and modified them to fit this new tournament. Ideally I see the league starting in about a month (so September 27st) and the games happening on Sunday. Sunday always seems like a good day to have games because most people can make the games. Registration will be very simple. Follow the format below or if you played in the Summer League, you can request that your team page stays and you can keep the history. My old website (evilarsenal.webs.com) will host all the team pages so if a team wants to keep their old team page, so they can keep their history on their page, that would be awesome and make my job easier Here is the info you need to sign your team up for the tournament: Quote:
Sign ups will continue until September 21st. To clarify, September 21st, 12:00am EST is the end of sign ups. Team Name: Tag: Captain (Altitude Name): Team Members: Preferred Time Zone: I need your team name and tag simply for identification. I'd appreciate it if everyone could wear a tag during all league games. It'd make sorting through everything much simpler. I am not including information on IP addresses or account IDs. I will not be checking the server logs for the validity of team players. It is up to each team to be on the honor system and only field the actual players on their teams. It is a small community and I feel like any kind of smurfing will generally not happen. Also, can all captains add me. TOURNAMENT RULES
The league's 2nd season will run from: September 27th to October 19th. The first 4 sundays will be for regular season games and the next two sundays after October 19th will be for the playoffs. A team will have 2 matches scheduled per week. The default play date is Sunday. It is up to the captains to agree to a separate date if it is required. If a date cannot be agreed on, then the match must be played on Sunday. Plan on having 2 games on the Sunday and each one will be slotted for a one hour time block. Scheduling will be mostly random, but you will be playing with teams your own record (format has not been decided yet) The complete map pool is: Mayhem, Core, Woods, Lost City, Middleground, Cave, Asteroids, Grotto, Locomotion Throughout the season, the following format will be used with a map veto system: - Regular Season: Best of 3 - Playoffs: Best of 5 - Championship Match: Best of 7 At any point (including immediately) before each match, map vetos will be announced. Team 1 vetoes a single map first, then team 2 vetoes two maps, and finally team 1 will veto the last map. Team 2 will choose the first map to be played on and the loser chooses each map thereafter. Try to figure out which maps you want to play beforehand! Nothing worse than sitting in game waiting for a team to decide for 15 minutes. Schedules will be updated and posted in my website. Check this thread for your scheduled match times! During the regular season, each team will have an equal number of games as team 1 and 2 (similar to home and away). During the playoffs, seeding will determine who vetoes and chooses maps first: Lower seeds veto first, top seeds choose the first map. The playoffs will be decided when the time has come. Quote:
EMAIL ADDRESS TO MAIL RESULTS/SCREENSHOTS/DISPUTES: altitudeproleague@yahoo.com Like i said, screenshots are not mandatory (they aren't required to be sent in) but take them just in case because without them, you could receive a forfeit loss. Attach the game screenshots to the email! A game which lacks screenshots from either side will result in a loss. 2 Forfeit losses and you're gone. Realistically, a suspension will not be handed out unless there is a dispute. Making sure you take screenshots is a simple way to be safe and ensure there is no drama. Ties can happen, if a match is 1-0, and a tie happens, it becomes 2-1, and the team that was 1-0 wins, but if it was 1-1, and a tie occurs, the game is a tie. A team must have at least 5 total pilots including a designated captain. A team is limited to 10 total pilots. If you have less than 5 players who show up for a match then it is up to the other team whether they want to play 4v5, if any team has below 4, the game is over. It is up to your team to coordinate your team's players. If you show up with fewer than 5 players for a match do not expect to reschedule the match. Plan ahead and plan for a few people being no shows. IN GAME RULES: - Substitutions can only take place in between games and not during a game. This means that each player should test their connection with the server extensively before the game goes live. If a player is having problems, he should not play. If a player disconnected or their game crashes that same player may reenter the game once they reconnect. However, no other player is allowed to enter the game that is in progress. If this is violated and the opposing team wants to object then take a screenshot and send it to me with an explanation of what happened. If someone is observing and accidentally spawns but quickly leaves without impacting the game then I suggest teams don't worry about it. But if someone is being abusive then definitely let me know. - Everyone should be spawning at the same time. That means ideally you should have a 3rd party observer that does a count down for the spawn. Any observers should refrain from using general chat or interring with the game at any point. Please as a spectator, use team chat. It is very rude and makes you look like a noob, so please don't ruin the game. A mistake or a slip up is aloud, but please don't be an ass. My concern is that if you can't field enough players from just 1:55-3:10 on one day you get disqualified from the tournament. Yes, if the other team is unreasonably gracious they could reschedule or let them play a man down, but if that's going to mean getting them not getting into the playoffs...
Can you make it so that forfeit losses on two separate days = suspension instead of two games? If people are a man down at 2 they'll likely still be a man down at 3. |

Not everyone's going to have 12 and very few will have an active 12. Also factor in that more people will have real life obligations than in the summer.
How many teams from last season would've been disqualified under those rules? The situation I described in my previous post was fLb's. 7-9 people every game until the last day when we could only field 4. Being a man down for an hour and fifteen minutes would disqualify you from the tournament. I don't see backing off from that to 'being a man down for 10 minutes on two separate days disqualifying you' as being overly lenient, but maybe it's just me. |

scheduling will be different, not only an hour 15 minutes, but if u have 3 for that long, which is 25% of your team, then don't play
maybe the forfeit losses will be extended over two weeks idk, but if a team cannot field 5, they shouldn't sign up or be playing in the tournament |

From my understanding of the rules only having 4 and the other team deciding they'd rather win than lose will also result in a forfeit win. Objection withdrawn if that is not the case.

A forfeit win isn't really a win since you'd have to play another team for the actual victory, so if a team plays 4v5, they might as well do it then

Just popping my head in here because I am going to have to agree with Eso. I am taking a look back at the last tournament I think most teams would have been disqualified under these types of rules. I agree that there should be strict rules for teams that are no shows, but to disqualify a team for having one bad day seems very harsh.
I know that flbss, IT, PX, JC, MH, 420, bc09, $, and ZS would have all be disqualified. This leaves 5 teams out of 14 that to my knowledge would not have been disqualified. One of them dropped out after the first week (DE) so we might as well call it 4 out of 14. If we had done this in the first tourney it would have disqualified ~75% of the teams. I realize you want teams to be responsible, but remember this game is still growing and has a limited player base. If you impose rules that are used in games like CS that they might not work here as well. -M |

Thought about adding team death-match into the mix? Wouldn't be hard to reconfigure the mayhem map to be symmetrical, and the cave map seems OK. Don't much like middlegrounds for DM and asteroids is not great either.

could we please only use maps that are on the officials? It makes more sense than adding maps that hardly anyone has played before and that no one plays regularly.
I play a lot, and I can't remember the last time I've seen grotto and locomotion on any server. They are good maps but unless they get put on officials and people actually get to play on them, it's foolish to add them to the tourney servers. ...plus I can't even get on the tourney servers lol. |

Well, if youre only gonna use maps on the officials it might stagnate a bit.. The only map Ive seen get added to officials in all my time of playing is woods. Plus loco and grotto are really great maps, get your friends and play some games on tourney servers

Was changed back to 10 to avoid more famous teams sponging up all the talent. It was initially switched to 12 to avoid seeing 3v3s and 4v4s ect, remember this is a 5v5 league not 2.4 v 4.9.

I'm a bit suspicious that you just want Esoteric back from the Lobstars, since he makes 11. You do realize that kicking a weaker player out of Lobstars so that Eso can play would only make us stronger?
I don't really understand how Lobstars was one of the only teams to consistently have at least 5 players last season, even though we are all not as serious as some of the other teams, but all teams will be busier in the fall and have trouble fielding 5 players sometimes. I support 12-player teams because I am not going to cancel other plans in order to play altitude. I don't want to feel like I'm condemning my team to suspension just because I want to go out for a delicious sandwich on a Sunday afternoon. |

+1 for 12 per team. When even the best teams are not getting 5 to show up, there needs to be more buffer. I don't see any issues with it other than "sponging" but if players are great and they don't like being benched they'll make their own team or join another where they'll get played or just be happy to be winning.

I think it's good that Eso left flb. The reality is that this is such a limited player base that there hasn't been an increase in the number of good players since the first tournament. We did have 14 teams but most of those teams were filled with Demo players. As I am sure you all know most demo players suck. I don't think there was a single player in the playoffs that had the demo. (Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on that).
So basically we are left with a dilemma. I think we can agree that most of the talent is concentrated on just a few teams. So the choice needs to be made to either try to consolidate more talent onto teams like L and ACE or let more players leave flb in order to even the playing field. Obviously either option is not ideal as taking the good players from a moderately good team like FN (Monxy Fist, Ballin Shades, etc) in order to make a team like L or ACE better just diminishes the competitiveness of the remaining field. Conversely, asking flb to give up more of it's better players (gameguard, BG1, etc) would give the league of feel of being watered down in order to make a more even playing field. I honestly don't have a perfect answer. All I know is that without either major changes in the format of the tournament or a large influx of new players, this league will end up feeling like a replay of the summer league. |

DEATH MATCH HELLS YEAH
Death matches are quick and epic. I don't think it would add too much time to put a round of deathmatch after the team games, the results of which would go into a separate bracket. And Maimer, for delicious sandwiches I am specifically thinking of the egg sandwich at Tosci's, which only exists on weekends (half of which are Sundays-- yes I am a mathematician), and which you need to try. |

Well, I personally know I dont want to recruit more people for ACE, because I want everyone on my team to be able to play, and that's not really possible if we have like 12 guys of the same team in the server for a match.

+1 vote for 12-man teams. what you guys are forgetting is that ace and flb aren't the only good teams out there (lololololol). we have pretty good contenders in the names of FN, L*, flbss, and if arab gets his team to work, hw, and to be honest, with the size of the community as it is now, that's a pretty good number of solid teams, all of which have a chance at the title if things go well for them. there's also the chance of a dark horse team coming up and offering a challenge, as we saw in FN last league.
and it's not like if you reduced the team size to 10, the extra 2 players from each of the 5 top teams will magically cooperate to form a sixth team. players are attracted to certain teams for certain characteristics, and here at lobstars we recruit people because we like them, not because they're the best player out there (ahem ace/flb). we're not sponging off players off of a potential new team, we're just adding more people that want to join us. oh yeah, as a side note i vote for adding deathmatch or objective mode to spice things up a little. also, evil, you need to edit your post a little: you have down last tourney's system of 1-2-1 for vetos, but since we're playing best of 3 out of 9 maps now you're gonna need something like 1-2-2-1 vetos or something. |
