Oh I'm almost certain it's the CPU. Firstly tried getting rid off any static by removing the battery and holding the power button (had this or at least an apparently similar problem before, but this method fixed it), then tried removing and reinserting memory, tried leaving only a single module in, swapping them around etc. Lastly tried connected the laptop to external monitor and got no image.(i could already tell by the laptops behaviour that it wasnt loading windows but it couldn't hurt to try right?)
Also the blinking capslock sequences as explained at manufacturers website suggest a CPU failure... So yeah.....

Back to altitude now.. Braz I might be able to borrow my sisters laptop for the scrim so I might make it. Though I emphasise 'might.'

Default CPU Failure

Oh man, that sucks...

But there is still hope...

The next question is what Brand/Model your laptop is... I have a few dozen 'parts' laptops that I can scrounge parts from. And a few pals who have equally impressive 'parts' collections... I am sure collectively we can find spare parts for you.

The real question is... Are you comfortable enough to disassemble that slab far enough to swap the mobo..?

My concern is whether the mobo has fried (thus losing connections) or you have just lost the CPU due to thermal issues. Either way, swapping mobo/CPU as a combo, with known good parts, is probably your best bet. Will solve both potential issues, without even trying to narrow down the diagnosis.

Just a thought...

Sorry to the rest of you guys for hijacking the clan thread....

I wouldn't be suprised. But neither teams have enough confirmations. So no worries, guys! If there magically are enough people, great; if not, another day will come! I hope?

Perhaps, perhaps not. I may have offered a suggestion that sparked the fire of ZeroG... But I didn't do any of the tending... Woofy and you took the time and did all the work... And I must say, a fine bonfire it is. I am proud of you guys. All of you.

You guys owe me nothing. ...EVER... But, I do have one request, no... make that two requests:

No more of this:

Lots more of this:

We all have to live, which means we have to work. That is important. But so is our play. Without recreation, we'd all die of stress-induced heart attacks or strokes before 40......

This clan, YOUR CLAN represents your fun, and the friends you have it with. And you can't give up on that.

There are times to take a break, now and then... Especially in the off-season... Take some time to goof off in other ways.

But you guys are a great clan... And frankly, I don't wanna hear any talk of calling it quits. Just because your gonna take 'the summer off' or something, doesn't mean you need to call the clan quits...

There will be more seasons to come... And ZeroG belongs there.

I wish there was a way to "like" your post Noval, because I would totally like it 100 times! Thanks for the inspirational words mate.

As for the scrim... Hey I'll show up even if a few of you will be on, we'll just have some practice fun or something.

Thanks for the kind words, my Cmdr. I'm too glad for having you as a friend since my first days of H20.

I still wouldn't be ashamed about what I've said, though - because it was something that had to be checked by the ones who really make up this clan. I was pretty relieved with the replies.

And as said before, let's see if we can have a funnier, rather than stressful take on playing games. No need to hit your head in a wall for some mistakes. (must remember that) And besides, who wouldn't want to hear Dougie's "Unbelivable!", read Lomb's constant "lol"s and see JJ's weird revving around?

Bahahah, Dougie takes the trophy for best excuse... though JJ owns it at the moment.

Ah, still thanks for informing, guys. Let's see again for a scrim/practice next week.

Zero Gravity practice
Sunday, April 28, noon PST/3pm EST/7pm GMT

A time just for some playing together, against a team or not. The plan is playing against randoms, and if luck permits, start up ladder. We also own Smile a scrim, but methinks we should be able to gather first, then get us a scrim.

I'll be out of town, so if Moon, JJ or Dougie could help making this happen on Sunday, I'd be grateful.

If you have alti on steam, try going to:
Library > Altitude > Properties (in the right click menu) > Local Files > Verify integrity of game cache

That should make it check the files and download any that might be missing.

I had a very similar problem to Lom a few weeks back. Turned out that my antivirus had removed the altitude.exe file. You may need to add an exclusion for it before re-installing.

Maybe that was due to some recent Altitude update? I've had problems like the one Dougie states, though the file was never erased/moved without me knowing.

So, I'm back, was a good trip. I hear not many people showed up yesterday, so it's probably better to hold off games for a while (unless we get scrims, or they show up). We should get going weekly again by or after APL ends.

How is everyone's availability for May and June? Would like to hear from dot, Lomb, Dougie, Pac, phlex, Caz, Moon, JJ, and Woof.

Mine is good for May except most probably the 12th. On June I'll be Confederations Cup volunteer, not totally sure but should start June 15.

Same as always really .. May and June is pretty busy with exams and assignments, but most saturdays and sundays should still be fine .. Assuming I don't fall behind on my schedule, lol ..

It will probably be a week.. or two until I'll be back to alti, but when I'm back it'll be full force. Will be available for most of the EU friendly times.

Thanks guys, almost everyone answered (!). So if anyone's feeling like playing too, gonna ask Tadow a scrim May 19th, and perhaps practice or another scrim on the 12th even though I won't be around.
