INTERVIEW WITH LAMSTER FROM NIMBLY GAMES:

Thanks for sitting down with us to answer a few questions lamster! As SL Season 13 prepares to head into the playoffs next week, I was wondering what your thoughts were on competitive Altitude? And have you ever secretly played in any Sky League games using one of your smurf accounts?

- I love competitive Altitude and I've watched a bunch of it, including many Sky League matches, but I've never participated.

How did you and Karl first meet and become best friends, and what were you guys doing before deciding to become game developers?

- Karl and I grew up across the street from each other and were raised almost like brothers. Our friendship grew over shared entertainment, mostly video games and sports. I worked at a small software startup and Karl was a developer at a defense contractor before we formed Nimbly.

Why did you guys decide to create Altitude, and what types of games did you guys enjoy playing during your childhood or during the Altitude development process that helped influence the game?

- The inspiration for Altitude came from a friend who suggested that we modernize Intellivision's Biplanes. I've never played Biplanes but I spent a week implementing a prototype based on my friend's description; the prototype was immediately fun so development continued. We played a ton of multiplayer games growing up; Mario Kart and Call of Duty were probably the most direct influences on Altitude.

Altitude has been around for over 7 years and although the game isn't as popular as it once was during its peak, there is still an active playerbase that is dedicated to it, with many users having thousands of hours of playtime. Much of the community has grown up playing Altitude and have made friends along the way while sharing some great memories. When you guys created Altitude did you ever envision it lasting as long as it has, and do you feel satisfied with how many people ended up playing it?

- When we launched Altitude we weren't sure how long it might hold a community as the majority of indie multiplayer games back then were dead within months of launch. We're extremely happy and gratified by the community that's grown up around Altitude - it's awesome to think that our game has provided a platform for friendships that transcend video games. We've made a bunch of friends ourselves by way of Altitude (hey Mikesol!) and I think it's that extra layer of community and connection that's made the hundreds of hours I've spent enjoying Altitude feel so worthwhile.

Is there anything you would of done differently if you had to go back and change any aspect of Altitude, or overall are you proud of how everything turned out?

- There are many things I'd love to go back and change about the business side of Altitude, but overall we're very happy with how the game turned out.

Thanks for the interview once again! Is there any final words you would like to say to the fans of Nimbly Games and Altitude? And as a follow up question: are you at liberty to give any hints as to any future projects of Nimbly Games may be working on, and if so do any future projects involve developing an Altitude 2.0?

- Thank you so much for your support! You gave us the chance to chase our dreams these past 7 years and for that we'll always be grateful. Unfortunately it's unlikely that we'll ever work on a sequel to Altitude.

PLEASE POST THE RESULTS AND SCORES OF YOUR WEEK 7 MATCHES IN THIS THREAD

Sorry, videos for last Sunday's matches won't be on YouTube until tomorrow. I was already behind on them and then after several were rendered I noticed there was an issue with them that seems to be due to a glitch in a recent software upgrade. So I am starting over with the renderings and will start uploading most of them tonight.
