Extremely poor performance when launching game and navigating menus

DxDiag attached, am on Windows 10 64 bit.


My game usually crashes on launch and when opening the options menus. I'm not given an error code, the program and windows freeze up and the generic application crash menu eventually allows me to close the program.

I've reinstalled, and tried running in compatibility mode for Windows 7. I've also disabled SLI for the program though the NVIDIA control panel.

Any suggestions?

Anything interesting in the logs?

One thing you can try is using the system's JRE.
Open altitude/.install4j/pref_jre.cfg and replace whatever's in there with your system's JRE directory, probably something like:

 C:\Program Files\Java\jre8\

Another thing which probably-won't-help-but-maybe-is-worth-trying-anyway is updating LWJGL, the game library altitude uses. You can download it (lwjgl-2.9.3.zip) here:

Unzip and copy everything in lwjgl-2.9.3/native/windows/ to altitude/native/ and everything in lwjgl-2.9.3/jar/ to altitude/lib/ .

edit: One last thing: Try playing with some of the values in the graphicsOptions in altitude/config/options.xml, specifically fullscreen and vsync can be either true or false.
