Forced Tutorial for Beginners
Tired of having beginners with jet black smoke trailing their plane, pick up the bomb and go on a run. Can something be done about this please? What about a limiter built in where if you have 1% health, you can't pickup the bomb.

I hope so -- to other players it would look as if they fly through the bomb, like if they had an existing powerup. For the player who picks up the bomb, I'm hoping there's a way to overwrite that player's state to remove their powerup, so it would seem as if they picked up the bomb for 1/10th of a second, then it respawned and they lost the powerup.

Seems like something should be done, I don't know... worth testing and getting other feedback on, maybe someone has a better idea.

What about sending players over to the ST academy when a series of conditions are met regarding their behaviour and level. So, maybe if a player under level 30 (ace 0) commits, say, 10 "infractions", we execute a serverRequestPlayerChangeServer over to the ST academy. Infractions could be:
1. dropping the bomb right after picking it up 2. dying within 5 seconds of picking up the bomb 3. taking HP near bomb carrier If xal puts more information into the logs, we could probably add more. I tried to pick things which are easilly ascertainable from the logs. We need new players. They won't stay if we treat them badly, but they probably also won't stay if the game isn't fun because they play in a server filled with 5 year veterans. So, If we can nudge them into the training server, maybe they will learn and stay. Also, any servers with a minimum player level requirement could move their minLevel down to zero, and for players below the desired minimum, they could automatically be pushed over to the ST Academy. |
