shadow_agent, I know you're excited about making a ball clan and/or joining {ball} but please understand that the people in {ball} are here for a reason. They showed tremendous talent, longevity (e.g. sticking around, playing frequently), teamwork (helping each other out -- not just in-game, but in forums, chat, etc.), and good attitudes (you'll notice we don't tend to get kicked/banned, and we rarely upset other people... except when they get frustrated by our mad skills). I'm not saying we're perfect, but it's a strong, positive clan.

You haven't really proven yourself. Stating in-game that you are "as good as all of the {ball} players" and then two minutes later stating that "I can't play this game at all" doesn't exactly give me a lot of confidence in your abilities. Telling me that you are friends with ACEfighter who made an a** of himself (and has since apologized, so we're cool) doesn't advance your cause.

So I'm taking a wait and see attitude. I hope SA takes off and people join and get really good at BALL so that we can challenge you in the future.

Looking for a clan to join?

Henceforth, {ball} will be two teams called {ball} and {ball*}.

These teams will operate independently with separate leadership, joining requirements, and commitment levels. It is our hope that what was started by Moxie will grow into a friendly competitive spirit, and that the addition of a second team will spur the growth of additional ball clans to compete with.

There may be times when {ball} and {ball*} join forces to take on another clan. The KLF match next weekend is a good example of this, and will be open to anyone from either team.

{ball} will be captained by tgleaf and Moxie. I would like to ask that Kai and who stay on this team, but beyond that anyone else is welcome to stay or to move to {ball*}. I would also like to retain Nikon, as he has been developing logos for us. It would be great if non-loopies (e.g. Harmonica and Don't Follow) would pick different teams to balance us out, but it's not necessary.

{ball*} will be captained by drunkguava and Wiseguy. They will start a new forum thread to discuss the creation of that team.

If you are a current member of {ball}, please let me know which team you would like to join. There is no tryout necessary -- you are automatically IN.

If you are not a member but would like to join, please speak to a captain.

Great idea to split the clan to have more challenge / less monopoly. I don't mind being part of either clans. Since drunkguava was the one to pull me into Ball in the first place then I tend to think I should be part of Ball *.

but how will it be divided.
heres some factor i hope will be used to divide the team
player quality and plane variety. cant leave one team with loopies only
location. us/europe/aisa. so it can be easy for a group to play together.
competitiveness. tg has mentioned that he wants ball to be as commitment free as possible. others mite want to practice and participate in leagues. including other formats.
there are many ballers. but most are causal members. only few are into clan organisation. need to divide them more carefully. otherwise one mite fade.

Great post, gorkha. Thank you for your input. I can't answer all of those questions, but guava and I are both dedicated to making sure these teams last and are balanced. I'm not too worried about membership levels right now because we have new players wanting to join on a daily basis. We've had to turn away people lately.

The commitment aspect will form organically, I believe. Maybe {ball} will be low-key and {ball*} will be more competitive on a clan/league basis, but I can't say that for sure. We're still figuring things out!

And I'd love to find a way to schedule based on location/timezone. We had six members for our last scrimmage, which isn't very many. Unfortunately, only two people have private messaged me in response to my survey (see earlier post). Once I have info for the whole clan, I can share what patterns emerge.

Agreed. Some valid points. But I think we first need to see who is interested in joining {ball*} and then we will be able to organize better. The good thing about this split is that even if one team is more casual than the other, players who do want to scrim or play in BALL leagues or tourneys (if/when they happen) can come to the other to do so whenever they want.

Well, it looks like I woke up one day and was kicked out of {ball}, hahah.

But for the good of the game, I'm willing to accept my appointment to {ball*}...I think it's a good idea to start a new team, before {ball} is the only game in town.

I also like the idea of {ball*} being a little more hardcore. I was even thinking that perhaps we would only recruit from the ranks of {ball}, thus giving us more time to watch {ball}ers play and keep traffic coming through the ranks. This would also ensure the close tie between the two clans that I'd like to see continue...you know, so I don't feel so bad when Kai shoots me down :P

Hopefully those I ask to join us will not be put off by multiple clan changes in a pretty short time!

I don't know if I like the split, but I'm staying with tgleaf on {ball}. I might like some clanmatches and stuff, but I don't have preferred playing times or such.

Hey all, not sure if this is the right place to post, but tgleaf was kind enough to invite me to the clan and just wanted to say thanks and hello to everyone. I live in Cincinnati right now, I do graphic design for a living (currently doing Flash Design/Development) and I'm pretty pumped about joinin {ball}! Still pretty new to the game so if anyone sees me doin' something dumb, feel free to gimme some tips.

Yea I know, why would anyone have an unused 25 slot ventrilo server. LOL

jsyk I am an avid counter strike source player, I used to run my own clan wit 7 servers, yes 7. We had our own web and everything. We started out great, but after half a year, we were losing members, which meant less and less donations and admin subscriptions. I shut it all down as it was too much to be paying 30-50% of server costs myself. I still have half a year on the vent server though lol.
