BALL_STATION After some conceptual discussion for a Ball map containing bases (in this thread), I've created a unique Ball map with bases, bombs, balls, and goals. In this map, you must use bombs to destroy bases covering the goals, which are then exposed to score into. There are three roles for bases implemented on this map:
Throughout the game, your main objective is destroying the Guard Base with bombs and then picking up the ball to score. Overall, I encourage players to develop their own strategies on this map. Enjoy your game on ball_station! Dimensions: 4500x1800 pixels Version 1.2 // 25 August 2011 Updates:

looks interesting. glad my idea was considered.
a simple concern may be that games will take a long time to finish. also, before the bases are destroyed, the ball will simply be an annoyance. If someone picks it up, they are most likely going to toss it away. and when that happens, the ball will most likely get lost, causing a pause in the action. This may become tedious. |

If the map was small enough, similar to a darkwar (2700x1800), it could work for a basic 5v5/6v6
Maybe make it a 7v7, 8v8 with the current map size. One fireteam can focus on balls another fireteam focus on bombs. Together their balls are the bombs. |

A while back somewhere between 6-8 months ago I made a map ( I think its on my brother's server) with the same concept, an offspring of tbd and ball. The resulting map was interesting but I soon realized that ball has the dominant traits and tbd the recessive ones. Destroying bases does nothing for you because to win, you ultimately have to score 6 goals.
The map looks really great though. Seems that this wouldn't work so great in pubs but if you got two competitive teams to play on it then it would be awesome. |

Maybe you could have it so the bases are only eclipsing most of the goals, so scoring from point-blank is still possible at all times, but it would in the long run be worth it to actually destroy the base.

Update:

Spawn the ball in a "trapped" location such as is done with bots on co-op maps, but make one or more sides of the box a base that can be destroyed by bombs.
Teams would work to free the goals first and then free the ball. Edit: ball would still get lost. *(#%$^(&@#%&^*!!! Edit #2: put a bot in with the ball. Aha!

Update: Version 1.2
V1.2 -- Removed back power-ups, centered middle power-ups. Not really a huge update, but I didn't have anything else major planned so I figured just to go ahead and center those bad boys.
