Default Minecraft, Conquest PvP Server

Me and a few others outside of Altitude are going for it.
Kessek and Solqom will also be attending for what it seems, not so sure on Solqom. Either way, something to get interested by since TL's PvP died and Mike's isn't populated for a good PvP experience.

Conquest: A Clan Based PvP Server.

=Goals=

Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for Minecraft clans to be a part of. We want to offer a fun community full of competition, war, and trading all with no lag. Our goal is to turn Minecraft PvP into something better than shady stealing and griefing while your opponent is off-line. We want Clan warfare to be full on combat against enemy cites taking full advantages of the games features. We also want combat to be as Mojang intended it to be. Yes, it is a button spamming mess, but with the additions of potions, enchantments, the re-vamp of bows, and the continuing use of cannons in combat we want to encourage city to city warfare. With a map border set at 4,000 by 4,000, and with the Factions Plug-In allowing for land expansion based on your clan size/activity we know we will see plenty of war between nations.

=Plugins=
Conquest offers a fairly small list of plugins keeping the game as Vanilla as possible while still accomplishing the server goals.

HeroSneak is a donators only plug-in. It allows the user to toggle auto sneak on and off without affecting is movement, allowing the players name to become invisible when viewed through a wall.

Factions plugin is the main plugin that drives the combat and gameplay of Conquest. This allows for clans to claim a section of land based on their Power Level. The clans Power Level is calculated by the number of members that are pledged to that clans faction, the activity of those members, and the lifespan of those members. I am going to give a brief example of how this might look.
Faction Bowser has 2 members; each member begins with 10 power each for a total of 20 power. This allows Bowser to claim 20 chunks of land as their Territory, they are the only ones that can place blocks or otherwise interact with this portion of the land. But lets say faction Mario Bros. attacks and kills both members of the faction Bowser, for each death of a faction member they lose 2 power (It doesnt matter how they die they still lose 2 power each. Power regains after a certain time period), which makes 4 of their claimed chunks revert to unclaimed land. That allows the Mario Bros. to claim the land they won by defeating Bowser. If they continue to kill Bowser and cut down their Power Level to 0 then they can claim all of their land including Bowsers castle, effectively saving the princess.

World edit just makes the build teams job easier, allowing them to edit the land faster at a whims notice; it also means that the server staff can roll back specific portions of the map such as: the arena, survival challenge, and the fort captures. What does this mean to you? It means that in server events like the survival challenge you will be able to edit the land how you see fit for your victory and the admins will be able to reset it after the match, it also means that if you are trying to defend a fort capture point the enemy can completely dismantle the entire fort and the next day we can make it as good as new.

Border Guard allows the staff to set limits the distance players are allowed to travel from spawn. At the moment the borders are set at 4000 by 4000, this encourages players to interact with each other on a more common basis and simply makes it harder for people to hide.


=Events=

Fort Capture

GOALS: In CONQUEST there are 2 forts that are located at 1000, 1000 and -1000, -1000. In the center of these forts is a bedrock platform; in the center of this platform is a pedestal, the object of this event is to place a sign with your name/name of your faction. Every night at 11pm EST the battle is over and the winning clan/player should post a screenshot of the pedestal with their time and name showing. An admin will distribute awards at the next possible time.

RULES: You can use whatever means you deem necessary to defend your fort. Lava is not permitted, however flint and steal is. The forts are mainly made out of wood so the use of fire can be an effective tactic. If an opponent breaks your sign off the pedestal but fails to replace it with his own before the deadline the fort will go unclaimed and no one will receive the reward. At approximately 12:30 am EST time each night the fort and any damaged area around it will be reset for the next day. That allows the victor thirty minutes to move their equipment and goods out of the area, failure to do so will result in a loss of equipment.

REWARDS: 30 Iron Ingots, 6 Diamonds. And all the weapons and armor you take from your enemies.


PvP Tournaments

WHEN: Most Saturday nights around 7pm EST, and randomly offered to online members.

HOW: Just be online and respond to the admin directing the tournament.

RULES: Supply your own gear, show up and fight other champions to the death. After you kill an opponent you get his gear, However you are not allowed to return home and bank your loot, you must remain in the competition until after the tournament is finished. Play will be 1v1 brackets single elimination; once you die you?re done. Winner will receive all the loot that he can carry (In theory the finals will contain two people each with the loot from all the past contestants). The winner will be allowed to carry away all the loot he or she can carry but any excess will be destroyed regardless of its value.

Equipment Restrictions: No potions are allowed, all enchantments are fine, if an opposing member requests and item check the supervising admin will examine the inventory of the contestant. Flint and steel, And TnT are not allowed.


Survival Arena

We have a massive (300x300) area of the map blocked off by a Obsidian wall that we use for special events. Entry into that area without permission is punishable by perma-ban.

=RULES=

Siege rules:

Siege is in place to prevent people from hiding offline or to prevent another faction from leaving their base.

To declare siege the leader of a faction must make a post on this thread which should include: the name of the faction, the faction that is being sieged upon, and the time in EST.

The sieging faction then must set up a fort outside the other faction's base. As long as any members of the sieging faction are online at least one must be occupying the siege fort.

The faction that is under siege is not permitted to leave their base during the "starving period."

The starving period is the first 24 hours after a faction has been sieged. During this period the sieged faction is confined to their base and the sieging faction is not permitted to attack the sieged faction.

After 24 hours and before 36 hours the sieging faction is permitted to attack at any time regardless of the number of members that the sieged faction has online. If the sieging faction does not attack during this period the sieged faction is permitted to once again leave their base and the siege is over.

If the sieging faction manages to gain access to the base of the sieged faction and the sieged faction manages to drive them out then the sieged faction is free to leave their base and the siege is over.

The sieged faction is confined to their base and is not permitted to leave it regardless of the claim area that they possess.

During the starving period no other faction can attack the sieged faction but the sieging faction can be attacked by any other faction.

Surprise attack rules:

Factions are allowed to attack other factions at any time with no declaration as long as the follow takes place.

The target faction must have atleast 3 of their members online. If the target faction has less than 9 people on their roster then only 1/3 of their members must be online.
Example: 10 members = 3 online.
8 to 6 members = 2 members online.
5 to 3 = 1 member online.

Beginner Protection: All new factions get one week protection from being raided or sieged. This gives them time to build up their bases and get their supplies together. However this only protects member that are in their base. if members are found outside their land they are fair game.

Building Rules:

Your base walls are not allowed to be protected by water of lava. This makes them impenetrable be tnt.

If you use Obsidian in the construction of your walls then there must be atleast an 8 wide section of each of your walls faces (max 4) must be completely obsidian free.

Floating bases must be connected to the ground and have a ladder. Completely floating bases are impenetrable.

If the only access point to the base is damaged in an attack then the defending faction is required to repair it. The attacking faction is not allowed to attack the repair man who is to leave the base wearing no armor.

You cannot build your base underwater.

There must be at least 2 spaces between walls and filled moats.

General rules

No racist slurs in public chat

Don't spam or fill public chat with pointless conversation, that's that faction chat and alliance chat are for.

No illegal mods: Legal mods include minimaps that don't show location of players or mobs, Optifine,And other GUI mods that don't affect the gameplay or give you an unfair advantage

Follow combat rules: if its claimed and there is no one online then its offlimits

Don't combat log or telloport to your home during combat

I actually play on a different PvP server, havocmc.net, which uses a custom clans plugin and automated siege system. I'm already in the most powerful clan, so if you joined my over there you would be pretty protected. There are events, a creative world to piss around on, and also an RPG style townie world. I used to play there with Iderick, but then it died down for a bit. The server has just "relaunched" with new features, and is definitely worth playing again.

is the server you are talking about here, the one i joined you for with that huge PvP event? because i loved it and ever since the TL server died out i have been looking for new populated & good non-faction PvP servers.

Yes it is :P That event takes place every saturday evening btw, (Or sunday cant remember) If you read on the website, the new "seiging" system sounds awesome (and oh so abusable).

oh, one more thing, is the server always updated to the newest version of minecraft? or does it take a few weeks to update just like bukkit does?

It normally takes a few days. They have a few coders who update it as soon as possible. Besides, the Bukkit team is now part of mojang, so the releases will be coinciding with each other.

So we just had our first major battle in the nether world, we pretty much poured in and took down a few people and their loot. We've been enemied by 3 factions and allied by one so the game is rolling now.

Tell me if you are interested :?D
