Default Additional RAM Allotment for Servers

Hate to post something that has been asked before... But after reading & re-reading until my eyes were mush... All I have been able to find is this:

http://altitudegame.com/forums/showp...64&postcount=7

and this:

http://altitudegame.com/forums/showp...4&postcount=29

Which, unfortunately, did not work...

My server is nearly bottoming out on memory, and I want to increase the threshold some... and have plenty of RAM to do it with...

Any way you could post the location of this value?

Use notepad to create a file with a single line
-Xmx512m
and save this file to
C:/Program Files/Altitude/server_launcher.vmoptions

Done. Those instructions were found here: http://altitudegame.com/forums/showp...64&postcount=7

But after restarting server... Stills shows 40.8mb free of 61.9mb available

Q: Am I correct in assuming that 512Mb would allotted to the vm... And it is the vm that is only making 61.9mb available?

Q: And if so, is a tweak necessary to the vm to increase the allotment? Or is it a 'scaled memory' situation where is adds on demand?

Memory is consumed on demand, so you won't see 512 MB "available" until the server process wants to use it. Unless you're seeing warnings about server hitches followed by status reports indicating less than 3 MB free of Max (in this case 512 MB) available then you can assume memory is not an issue.

No reports or error messages... as of yet. Server runs fine with a full load of players. Just trying to tweak it to it's potential...

Thanks Lamster.
