Impossible to get more Community Points

My name is Patflute and I have 3 skins, it's impossible to get more!

My three skins are Loopy skins and I want a Miranda one! Lamster or someone else can you help me?

I don't have anyone to buy the game.

There are two ways to gain community points. The first is both faster and arguably easier by purchasing the game for a friend and getting a few skins (is it three? I don't recall). This microtransaction of sorts can get you community points on the same day.

The other method of getting community points is to contribute to the community. This can range from adding content to the wiki, to developing software for the community. The points awarded for this is manually done, and appears to be done once or twice a year.

Another means of contributing to the community is to participate and win either Sky League (ball) or Altitude Pro League (tbd). This requires a team and a lot of skill.

That's so much work! I bought the game, why do I have to go through all that to get a skin?

Look at skins in this way:

One skin is a reward for a well done hard-work. You don't get things free in life, you earn them.

I've earned so far 7 skins. You can guess what I've done to get them.

C'mon Pat, you gotta have one friend who plays video games,...right?

The whole point of getting CP for gifting is to expand the community...

(I have even of heard one player, who shall remain nameless, who used his buddy's money to gift the game to him and get the CP... )

The OP makes a decent point - perhaps unlock a skin at level 60 of each ace? Effort, but not too much effort.

Unless more ranks are made or perhaps add more challenges (very hard ones) awarding those who achieve it with some CP or a skin, like for example "50000 Kills - Miranda" or something.

way too easy. you could get 10 skins in one day by just playing the game. that's not contributing at all. there are tons of other ways to help out the community and grab yourself some community points, you just have to actually do them.

I've got one skin, and I'm dying for another. But I still think that CPs are distributed well enough. I agree with the above, work hard for those skins!

You can, actually. They reduced the amount of xp it takes to level by like 90%.

What would be interesting is game modes where you gamble your CP and the winner can get himself a well-earned skin after he's stacked up enough victories.

... that and I could also spend my 750 CP doing something nice.

Though I like the idea of gambling fake points, this would open an avenue of purposely giving points to another player. I don't consider this a terrible thing, but want the con heard. Another potential con for CP being gamblable, then it could be argued that you are gambling real money as CP can be officially purchased, even if it can't be refunded. A bit of googling appears that gambling with virtual currency that can be converted back and forth to legal tender is subject to the same or similar laws as gambling. What I read appeared grey if no conversion VC was legal or not, and this gets even greyer due to being incoming one way VC.

I haven't aced beyond ACE 5 for two reasons. I like the icon better then the upper aces, and it was the last one to give a reward for being reached (if you don't like an ace icon, it is a punishment, not a reward). If we could choose that icon as easily as a plane skin, with more ace icons going for sale for these gamble points (CP or otherwise) would give alternate value for them.

who the f cares about contributing, it's a ridiculous model to have the *only* unlockables in the game be based on this weird community contribution standard

as always, i have had skins disabled since the day the option became available

That's weird. Miranda was locked for me when I started. Maybe you have a hacked version of the game? Or perhaps you mean having a micro transaction system with the primary advertized means of getting currency being via community related contributions? This makes it sound extremely awesome. I can't think of another game that openly rewards members of the community with micro transaction currency.

What i think is that people should get 100 or 200 cp at ace 5 and ace 10. For example, if you got 200 cp on ace 5 and ace 10, the ace 10 would have 400 skin points.

Haha. Well the problem with that is that it's so easy to get to ace 5 IMO, I'm just too lazy to do it. If I got 200CP for getting ace 5 I would have the points by tomorrow.

Ive plaued against u and u r pretty good, but not good enough for an endeavor that would earn u (an ace 3 last time i checked) 150k xp in 24 hours max? Bro, i dont think so.

Well, maybe a better idea would be to give you 100 or 200 cp per 100 hours, so people dont have to worry bout getting a badge u dont like.
