Default So I Got The World Record In IWBTG:G

I Wanna Be The Guy: Gaiden is the sequel to I Wanna Be The Guy. I'm one of the few people that speed run it regularly and I've come to share the time I got this morning of 5:52.86 real time. Despite this game being done in 3:34 when doing IL strats doing a Single Segment run with no deaths is just ridiculously hard. Those deaths, and safer strategies, have resulted in the 2 minutes of difference, but this is still a good run, excluding the end of 1-1 and the saws in 1-2.

While I am happy with this run I'm not satisfied yet. I'll continue to stream this until I get a run I'm happy with.

This run is dedicated to Evan20000. Happy birthday feg. <3

Lastly, I am actually good at games outside of Altitude. T_T

Ingbo try the first part of the game without all the fancy grab-arm etc. It's awesome and very, very hard.

When I first got this run I was happy with it, but after watching it a few times I'm not too happy with it anymore. Before I uploaded it I had already decided to improve it, but now I want to bring it down by at least a minute. There is no excuse for me ****ing up on DK that much. (It cost me about 20 seconds) The saw blades are just me being bad at 1-2 and losing 30 seconds for no reason.

Regardless, this game is extremely difficult to speed run. Considering I'm just a little over 2 minutes away from the IL times is pretty good.

Until you play the game the speed run doesn't look *that* impressive. Once you play it you're like holy crap for crap. Considering it takes me like 5 minutes to even get to the 2nd save point in level 1... <__<

I'm well versed in the speed running community. I've looked for runs of IWBTG:G on both English speaking sites and Japanese sites. The only runs I've found are IL runs. If you're talking about IL then that is a separate category from SS and therefore have different WRs. This also gets divided down to difficulty. The run I posted is a SS on Medium difficulty which increases the number of save points. A SS on Hard/Very Hard would not obsolete this run. Lastly, TAS are not world records. They are tool assisted and therefore are not based on human ability and can not be credited with a world record. This includes auto-fire in games/systems that don't provide first-party methods of auto-fire.

If you could provide a link to the run I'd be happy to watch it to see what strategies are used to see if they differ from the current strategies. If you can not provide a link then don't make such a claim.

some speed runs are pretty pointless. like speedrunning fallout... like the entire point of fallout is to be a part of the story and enjoy it

So I really wanted to get a new WR for TSSB tonight. I've been doing runs for the past 5 hours in order to get one I deem good enough to keep and finally got it just a little while ago.

The new WR for IWBTG:G is 5:29.17 for Single Segment Medium difficulty. Timing starts once I confirm the difficulty and ends once I hit the exit in 1-3.

http://youtu.be/QRnrdqUdUnI

Now a little about The Sunday Sequence Break. TSSB is a speed running podcast where each week they have a different game where they talk about the tricks/glitches and how to get into speed running it if you wish to. If you guys would like to watch The Sunday Sequence Break with me tonight it is streamed on Twitch.tv and starts at 7 PM Eastern.

Hey congratulations, IWtbTG is the definition of a "stupidly difficult" game.
