So a few of us started playing a Pokemon MMO. We decided to play hardcore, which is the Nuzlocke Challenge. We can only catch the first pokemon we see in each route/town/cave/whatever and if one of our pokemon faints we have to release it.

So I finished with TSSB's SGL and was on Mumble with a few guys when I found a shiny Pidgey. Sadly, I had already battled/caught a pokemon on that route so I wasn't able to grab it.



btw I'm naming my Pokemon after the Sammich members. So far I have Matattack the Wartortle, UFO the Pidgey, Aya the Mankey, ViPR the Beedrill, ex the Rattata, and Texas the Zubat. I've also caught a Spearow that I've yet to name. I'm just going to save it incase UFO dies.

I have some good and bad news. I'll start with the good news. I caught an Abra, who is now nicknamed Mikesol. The bad news is Aya and Texas have died.

Aya died because of a poor play on my part. I forgot Aya was poisoned and I brought him in on a Rattata. Poison damage killed him.

Texas' death wasn't because of a bad play on my part. He had 20 health and I brought him in on a Nidoran♀ only to get crit. That same Nidoran nearly killed UFO.

I'm really sorry to Aya and Texas. I really wanted a Primeape and Crobat. T_T I'll be sure to remake you two! I already have a plan for what I want to do for Aya, because I heard you can get Pinsir from the Game Corner. Don't know what I'll do for Texas yet.

Yeah, ex, this is real. Sadly, it isn't a stand-alone map/gym set-up with Pokemon added. It's basically Fire Red with additional people.

Now onto my update! Mikesol evolved into Alakazam! And he one-shots pretty much everything! I'm in Celadon right now at the game corner working up the coins to get the TMs I want (Mainly a few Ice Beam/Flame Thrower/Thunder Bold/Hidden Power) but eventually I'll be getting a Pinsir. Aya shall be reborn as my Physical Sweeper, Pinsir. Right now I have my Physical Wall/Special Sweeper, Matattack the Wartortle; Special Sweeper, Mikesol the Alakazam; All-Round Support, UFO the Pidgeotto; Physical Monster/Speedster, Hollywood the Dugtrio; Type Coverage, Texas the Weepinbell; and Physical Wall, ex the Raticate.

I caught a Ghastly in Pokemon Tower but it turned out to be pretty bad so I put it in my PC. Sadly, I'm going to have to switch out ex for Aya when I get around to working up the coins for my Pinsir. ex, you've served me well as a Rattata and Raticate. You were an instrumental part of my team until just before SS Anne when Mikesol evolved into Alakazam. After Aya died you were the main physical DPS I had. UFO was generally a higher level most of the time, but ex was always close behind. If there was something Mat or UFO couldn't deal with, ex was always there to clean it up. I promise you will be reborn as a stronger Pokemon on my team.

Lastly, Sage wanted to battle me earlier today. In the first battle we did it was one-sided. I can't remember all the details so I don't want to give a play-by-play with incorrect information. I do remember the ending pretty clearly, though. He had his Ivysaur out and I switch Mikesol in. Sage tries Sleep Powder on Mikesol but it misses. I decide to go with Psybeam to get damage on whatever comes in, and Sage switches Gyarados in. Mikesol takes out ~1/4 of Gyarados' HP. Next turn I release my hidden weapon: Shock Wave. Gyarados only has ~5% HP left. Next turn Sage hopes that he'll be faster than me to try to one-shot Mikesol, but even though Mikesol has a Speed IV of 4 he gets off another Shock Wave and causes Sage's Gyarados to fall without attacking. Sage then rage quits.

Sage comes back for a second fight. I throw Mikesol in front this time. Sage throws up Gyarados first. Two Shock Waves and Gyarados goes down. Mikesol then proceeds to sweep the rest of Sage's team with Psybeam/Shock Wave. He finishes only losing 40% HP. gg Sage. Mikesol too OP. <3

This is the greatest idea ever; I'm so in. I just beat B2 so now I just have lots of grinding to do which I'll be taking a break from soon. I hope y'all will still be playing this in 2 weeks cus then I can throw down all day err'day.

So after a long day of grinding coins I acquired Aya, the Pinsir, and most of the TMs I need. I also picked up Ghastly and named it Dragon. I figure I'm gonna want a Gengar, even if the stats are bad. ... I've also realized that my team is super Special heavy. Gonna have to work on that.

Erika lost to UFO. It was a pretty convincing win. UFO was too strong; Grass types can't handle his speed. I was really afraid of Koga. I started training Dragon in Koga's gym, switching out to either Mikesol or Matattack to kill the enemy. ... But then I got to Koga. Koga has 3 Pokemon that know Selfdestruct, and a Muk, so I had to bank on Mikesol's terrible speed being higher than Koga's pokemon.

Round 1: Level 37 Koffing vs Level 36 Mikesol. I select Psychic hoping that Mikesol is faster. I really don't want to lose him to a Selfdestruct. Mikesol's terrible speed IV prevails and I connect for the OHKO.

Round 2: Level 37 Muk vs Level 36 Mikesol. Muk should be the push-over of Koga's team despite being really bulky. Psychic again and it connects for the OHKO.

Round 3: Level 37 Koffing vs Level 36 Mikesol. Since I was faster than the first Koffing I was confident in Mikesol's ability to win thus far. Psychic > OHKO.

Round 4: Level 42 Weezing vs Level 36 Mikesol. When I saw this Weezing I was really scared. I'm sure that Mikesol will die to this Weezing. There's no way I'll live because he's just going to blow himself up and kill Mike, right? Nope, Mikesol hax. Mike goes first and connects with Psychic for the OHKO. Mikesol sweeps Koga. ... I guess I was afraid for nothing? ... Right?

With 5 gym leaders down I have 3 more monsters to go. Next time: Sabrina the Psychic Terror; will she predict all my moves and counter them or will she get swept?

going for 8th gym now. currently have a pupitar lapras charazard shelgon and breloom all level 45+. Also have a lucky egg which boost the exp gained by 50% and is super super rare.

Oh wow ark, this is so cool. I just showed my sister the nuzzlocke challenge comic and we were each going to DL an emu and play through it together. Might have to do it up on the MMO site, always thought thatd be a cool concept.

Updating late because I haven't been able to play that much. Sunday is really busy for me because of TSSB.

So after SAtk EV training Dragon he's become pretty beastly. Sadly, we won't be seeing any of Dragon in this update.

Silph Co. One of the businesses the Rockets took over. As I climbed floor to floor I decided on trying to evolve the other pokemon that I had in my PC. I'm in dire need of Exp Share for EV training so it's about time I get up to 50 Pokemon caught.

Sandshrew, Spearow, Geodude: all three needed to evolve. By the time I finished off all the trainers in Silph Co. Geodude and Sandshrew had evolved. I also had a near death with an Electrode. I didn't know that one of the trainers in there carried an Electrode with Selfdestruct, so it was a really scary battle. I had to choose between bringing in Mikesol to potentially die to a Selfdestruct or Matattack to potentially die to a Spark. I decided on bringing in Mat in because I knew he could tank a Selfdestruct due to his massive Def stat. I call back Sandshrew and send in Matattack. Electrode used Selfdestruct and Mat falls to 5 HP. Looking back on it, I'm lucky that I didn't get crit there.

After healing up and finishing off the rest of the trainers in Silph I head up to face my Rival: Apathy. Apa leads off with Pidgeot, and I send out Sandshrew. I look at my team wondering who would be best to take out Apa's team. I know that it will be a hard battle for Matattack because he doesn't have the best of SAtk stats, but at the same time I don't remember if he has any Special Walls. After thinking it over I decide that Mikesol would be the better switch. I could take out Apa's Pidgeot and Gyarados with Shockwave and his Venusaur with Psychic.

Mikesol takes a Wing Attack on the switch, taking him down to about 2/3 health. I need to get this Pidgeot out of here fast so I use a Shockwave. Pidgeot used Quick Attack, cutting down Mikesol's life to 38/98. I'm a little nervous here, but since I have a few levels on this Pidgeot I'm just going to go balls out. Shockwave again for the kill. I sigh as Apa sends out Gyarados. Mikesol's SDef is pretty beastly so I know he can take any hit from Gyarados, but I'd better heal up first. I use a Hyper Potion on Mikesol because I don't have anything smaller. Gyarados uses Bite, which scared me when first saw it. I kinda forgot that Gyarados had that move. Mikesol takes it like a beast and goes down to 77 HP. I use another Calm Mind to get up to +2/+2 to start the sweep. Gyarados uses Twister and takes Mikesol down to 70 HP. Psychic takes out the Gyarados.

Apa sends out a Growlithe next. What is this, some sort of joke? Psychic takes it out. Apa send out his Alakazam next. Confident in Mikesol's abilities I decide to try out Shadow Ball. It oneshots Apa's Alakazam. With Apa's last pokemon about to come out I pat Mikesol on the back. Venusaur appears and immediately gets hit with a Psychic, causing it to fall.

With Apa down I only have one more challenge before Sabrina: Giovanni. I head back to heal, just in case I need it, and head up to battle Giovanni. Sandshrew goes up first as Giovanni leads with Nidorino. I call back Sandshrew and send out Mikesol. Nidorino hits a crit with Poison Sting on the switch poisoning Mikesol. Mikesol lost 30 HP on just the switch and won't last too long with the poison. I hit the Nidorino with a Psychic to get it out of the way. I can't tolerate these Poison shenanigans.

Giovanni sends out Kangaskhan. This isn't something I was looking forward to. Mike has to get it out of there fast. I select Psychic, hoping that I can oneshot it, but Kangaskhan used Fake Out. Mikesol flinches. Well, ****. I switch out Mike and send out Matattack. Mat didn't get any action in the Rival battle and he's looking to start a sweep. Mat takes a Mega Punch on the way in. I decide on Surf to hopefully take out the Kangaskhan fast. It takes out half of its health, while the Kangaskhan uses Tail Whip. Good thing the AI is terrible. Mat uses Surf to get rid of it. Giovanni sends out a Rhyhorn next. Surf takes care of it. Giovanni's final pokemon is a Nidoqueen. Matattack uses Surf to clear Rockets out of Silph. I talk to the President of Silph and get a Master Ball. I don't think I'll use it, but it's nice to have. The last challenge for the day: Sabrina is next.

I head on up to Sabrina's gym. I clear out all the trainers while trying to level up Spearow. I finally make it to Sabrina, sending out Spearow first. She sends out Kadabra. I switch into Matattack. Kadabra uses Future Sight on the switch. Mat uses Bite to take out the Kadabra. Sabrina brings in Mr. Mime, something I don't want to see. Mr. Mime uses Magical Leaf and Mat uses Bite. I'm a little scared now because the Future Sight will hit next turn. I decide to stay in, using Bite. Mr. Mime hits with Magical Leaf first then Mat hits with Bite to kill Mr. Mime. Mat gets hit with Future Sight bringing him down to 12 HP. Sabrina is relentless as she sends in Venomoth next. I switch Mat out and send in Mikesol. Venomoth uses Stun Spore but it misses. Mike uses Psychic taking out the Venomoth. Finally, Sabrina brings out Alakazam. Her Alakazam is one level higher than Mikesol, so I feel like it'll be a decent battle. Mikesol uses Shadow Ball and oneshots the enemy Alakazam. I laugh a little as I obtain the Marsh Badge. I didn't think Mikesol's attack was that good.

ViPR the Beedrill is still around but I need to revive both you and ex as better pokemon. Matattack swept Blaine's gym (lol) and I'm not on the Sevii Island quest line so hopefully I can find some decent pokemon out there. I'm really hoping for a Heracross. If that doesn't work then I'll head into the Power Plant and hope for a Magnemite.

I got a Growlithe from east of Celadon (Was waiting to use that patch a little too long imo but it was worth it) and a Koffing from the Pokemon Mansion so if it does come down to it then I can do Arcanine+Weezing. A ridiculously good wall and a pretty decent Fire-type sweeper.

By the way, are any of you going to compose a team including IVs? or only EVs?

After the Nuzlocke is done I'm going to refit my team with better IVs and EVs. Then maybe we could have a tournament of some sort?

I'm just going to repeatedly catch/Game Corner pokemon until they get decent IVs and natures. (i.e. in the 20s for most stats.) I'm not looking to get perfect pokemon, just decent enough ones to do the job.

Like right now Mikesol has Impish nature, which lowers SAtk. I'd like to change that, and his terrible EVs, if we ever do a tournament.

EDIT: Forgot to reply to ViPR's post. I've been wanting to use on1x as an Onix, and later a Steelix, since the beginning. I may have to wait until after the Nuzlocke challenge to get one though. As for Arbok, it really isn't that great of a pokemon. It's only really use is Glare, which doesn't suit the powerful snipes of ViPR. I'm thinking a Marowak or Heracross as ViPR and Dodrio/Magneton as ex, with UFO taking the other.

I'm also going to need to do some speedruns of PokeMMO to get some extra Earthquake/Toxic/Giga Drain/Swords Dance/Leftovers in order to have a decent set Sammies that I can just mix and match.

wolf i just trained my first pokemon to 100 yesterday and it is an espeon. I think im going to get another one with a mild or timid nature and redo it to have max speed and sp attack. The one i have how is speed trained with 252 speed evs and mixed others. You can have it if you want :3

edit: i think it would be cool if we could get some alti inhouses tourny brackets or something going on. id be willing to donate to a prize pool or whatever we have

Also, excellent find TD. Coincidentally about 2 weeks ago I too found a shiny ponyta in my plat game, I about creamed. It reminds me of the blue candle in OG Legend of Zelda for some reason.

The circumstances behind my finding of the shiny Ponyta make a funny story so I'll share with all uze pokenerds.

I tend to save all my rare candies for checking IVs cus, as I'm sure yall know, before level 20 or so an IV calculator is practically useless. I also like the satisfaction of grinding pokes till 100. So I've been trying to breed a near perfect Togepi for ages now. I end up breeding one worth checking out so I blow 22 rare candies and accidentally save. I was furious obviously, cus now if I want to check IVs I have to level via exp share and pay attention to what EVs I'm collecting while I do that. So after I realize this I'm bewildered, and not knowing what to do with myself, I stumble into some grass outside of the breeder in plat. What's the first thing I see? A blue Ponyta lookin at me. It was a nice little bit of conciliation.


Ark I enjoyed the video update, I hope you do more of them. Also I watched the first ep of shingekai whatever and that show kicks ass.
