Map making in Linux
Does anyone know how to get the Altitude map editor work in Linux? Any hints? Please?
Options I have tried so far:
- native Linux map editor: unfunctional; maps load, but as soon as you try to view the properties of anything it freezes
- Windows map editor in Wine: doesn't even start (iirc)
- Windows map editor in VirtualBox, default setup: doesn't start, wants OpenGL
- Windows map editor in VirtualBox, (experimental) accelerated graphics support: depending on phase of the moon, either maps don't load at all, or maps load and the editor seems to work, but you can't actually see what you're doing because of horrible flickering
So as you can see, the map editor is as brittle as a vase in a bowling track. I'm glad it works in Windows at least, but rebooting every time I want to do some minor editing is cumbersome, to put it mildly.
