Joystick on the mac stops working.

Since the update the other day I have had two or three occasions where my joystick just stopped working completely.

I think this was immediately after sending a message, but I am not certain about that.

the rest of the game continues to work, keyboard and mouse seem fine. I can switch to spectate, post additional comments, and the mouse controls seem to continue to work fine.

I am running on OSX 10.9 and did not see this at all prior to the update the other day.

Weird. When you navigate to Options -> Controls -> Gamepad, which gamepads appear in the list? Please try toggling the selected value (disabled -> back to active gamepad) to see if that restores functionality.

The correct gamepad did appear in the list. I thought I tried switching away and back again, but I will try again if/when it happens again (It has behaved itself since I posted this).

Quitting the program and relaunching fixes the problem.

it just happened again. tried disabling the active gamepad and immediately re-enabling it.
Then tried disabling active, going back the the game, then back to controls and changing gamepad back.

Neither of these worked.

Not sure what I did this time to cause it to fail. Might be using the keyboard and controller at the same time...

Happened 3 times today.

This is getting to be a regular fault, but if I am the only person suffering from it then perhaps it is hardware. Don't have another gamepad to try... This reminds me of the way mac users used to complain about the keyboard failing. I wonder if it is related.

Exit game and re-load always fixes. Nothing in the control panel has an effect.

this is daft. I wish I had another joystick to try, although I doubt that is the problem

The failure occurs on hitting return to post a message. After that all joystick input is ignored.

Is there anything I can do to give you any idea of what is going wrong?

I think I have fixed it.
If so it is a hardware issue.
Noticed the otehr day that ever since the central heating went on for winter I have been getting electric shocks off of my keyboard, so I just tried playing with an anti-static wristband onto the mac housing. Not seen a problem yet!

I will be seriously unimpressed with apple if that is the problem.
