Map Making Competition Fall 2014

Lets start 2014 strong with new and breathtaking maps. It is obvious that map making is decline with one or two decent maps being made ever 1 or 2 months. I think everyone would agree that it would be more interesting if new maps were added to competitions like the SL or APL and so I decided that because its the beginning of 2014, why not start the year with something a bit more different.

There are two categories: BALL and TBD (If this competition will get some sort of recognition and players/map makers will start participating, then next time, I will create more categories e.g. TDM, 1DE etc.)

You can only participate in one category. If you decide to take part in the BALL category, then you may not participate in the TBD category and vice versa. This is to give others some sort of chance.

Prizes:

BALL/TBD

1st: $50
2nd: $25
3rd: $10

Submission Date: Sunday, April 20th, 2014 (Yes, that is around 2 months)

The reason behind the long time period given is to get people that haven't attempted making a map to learn and have enough time to create something decent. Who knows, you might have a hidden talent. Due to the long time period given, I'm hoping you have the common sense to know that these maps should be of decent quality and not ****.

I will update this page later with directions for map submission.

Judging procedure will also be added later on.

NOTE: Woofy has kindly offered to help with the judging. I'm looking for around 2 more judges, preferably with some sort of map making background.

How many maps may we submit?

One map per person so that it is fair for people who aren't at the same skill level and could win something as well

Are you going to give the prize money to any half assed map in case you only get 3 submissions per game mode? Or do the maps actually have to be decent?

Depends on how many people participate. If its 6 participants in total then it looks like i'll be handing out the prizes to those 6, regardless of the quality of the map. Ofc I hope the maps will be of decent quality because I've given 2 months time but nevertheless I have to keep my word and whatever happens, the money will be paid.

Are we allowed to release and test maps before submitting?

Yes, you can test and release the map but once submitted, they will be tested and judged by the judges.
