Default Team Volare Updates

September 26, 2014: We now have our own team channel on the Altitude community mumble server, courtesy of sunshineduck!

June 18, 2014: SL videos have been uploaded on our team blog.

June 15, 2014 (edited June 18, 2014): Changes will be made.

June 11, 2014: Demurrage won't be online from June 12-14. She will be going on a short holiday. DODD and Poison will be handling team affairs during that time.

May 31, 2014: We registered for Sky League 10! Sky League Preseason starts June 1st, Sunday, 6pm GMT. Games will be played every Sunday at same time.

May 31, 2014 (edited): (1)PRACTICE GAME SCHEDULES COORDINATION: Poison will do the same for North Americans. Demurrage will also do that for our players based in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. Alternatively, players will be placed into the training group whose training schedule coincides with their regular playing times.... BUT coordinate first with the designated training officer.

(2)PRIVATE TEAM BLOG: We have our new private blog! http://www.tumblr.com/blog/teamvolare (PM me for details or ask me in-game about it.)

May 17, 2014: Please practice your best planes.
UPDATE ON PRACTICE GAME SCHEDULES: Practice time will be from 1pm-3pm GMT until further notice.
Let me know if anyone is available to play in a scrim from 6pm-8pm GMT.
Sky League 10 is open for registration!

May 7, 2014: There will be 3 practice game schedules. You can choose to attend only one. Practice game schedules are: 10am-12pm GMT (in-charge: Demurrage), 1pm-3pm GMT(in-charge: Poison), and 11pm-1am GMT (to be announced). See if you can attend at least 30 minutes to 1 hour of practice at least. Thanks!

April 24, 2014: Practice game schedule will be set up. How does 1:00pm-2:00pm GMT Saturday practice sound?

April 22, 2014: Please try to play with the rest of the team as much as possible. Get to know each other's playing styles and preferences.

I hope you enjoyed the holidays.

Thanks, Moira!!! I appreciate it so much. I was just going to ask you if we could use the first image you used for the meantime. Both images are wonderful!

Good luck. I'd recommend telling your team members about ladder and having them get into the competitive scene a bit, and then hopefully you'll all be interested in next SL!

I wouldn't recommend using the first image, it isn't open source, it's something I grabbed off a google search (so someone else has rights to it).
Since I made the second from scratch, you are welcome to use it however you want.

Shrug. Within reason and the limits of my ability, I can modify them however you'd like... or send you the PSDs so you could do it yourself.

(BTW in a few days, I'll edit my posts from this thread to delete the images. Don't want to pollute it with large image posts)

It's from the wiki right here.

Yeah! Good luck, It's always nice to see new teams forming.
And as Fart said, try to get your team to atleast test ladder, it's more serious and competitive alike, we definately need more people who play ladder..

good luck demuuu!! hope u stay active to next SL, always fun with new clans. i know some of u in the clan. and i dont rly know about the ladder actually. it can be usefull but it doesnt have to be usefull actuallly. if u want a calm environment u shouldnt play ladder haha. the most important thing is the teamwork. so if u are online at the same time dont hesitate to start scrims against randoms or maybe clans. and the next important thing is to knowing the maps. well im happy for uu

A nice vibe in here indeed. Turning competitive can really test it out and demand some taking of responsibilities. Mumble works wonders for us at ZeroG.

I agree ladder holds some tension, but I don't think there's any better place for training and observation. Besides that, reading some guides, scrimming and chatting about game plays should bring you guys up in no time. Best of luck!

By the way, if this clan is around, we're interested in scrims. Hard to get some going during APL...

Hi Braz!

Scrims? Great! I haven't been playing Altitude lately cos I'm getting my desktop fixed. Perhaps you can catch 5050 in-game and organize a scrim. Let us know what you both decide. Thanks!

Oh! I might be able to get my desktop tomorrow.

Hey Braz,

I got my desktop back!

I will talk to 5050 about the scrims. My team still has to practice, though. We're still looking for servers that can accommodate everyone in our team. So far, I think Toasty server works well for everyone based in Asia. If you have suggestions, let me know.

Thanks!

Hi Poison,

I think Gator, Fichi, Ping, Frooster and I are available to play for the 1pm-3pm GMT practice. Frooster is on 1 month probation and will still need to be evaluated before he becomes a full-fledged member of our team.

Thanks for helping me get the team organized for some random games. Let's continue this good start. Next, we also need to start planning our team lineup. I think we need to discuss who's going to play which plane and what role would each one play before the game starts.

Default Some Thoughts

I'm happy to see the team practicing together. Here are some of my thoughts. Anyone is free to critique them.
  • A ball team composed of 3 randas is not advisable.
  • Practice time should be productive so spamming the chat during that time will be discouraged.
  • We need to discuss our plans at the start of practice and also finish each practice session by discussing things like what we've learned and what improvements we could do.

Who among us can show up for a scrim around 6pm-8pm GMT? This is 2am-4am time for Gator and me.

We need to have a set day for practice. Just 3pm gmt any day isnt good enough. I suggest weekends for a set time (around an hour or so). Also we need to know what planes people will play and who will play them in the game. I talked to Dem about this, and he agrees with me of that we should go for more of the defensive side.

These are just my thoughts. But, with experience for 5 years i think i have a solid idea of how this clan should go.

Hi Phyx!

I like the weekends practice idea. I sent you a PM about the planes our possible team lineup would be playing and their roles. Feel free to suggest a time we could all practice on weekends.

You're right about playing in ladder. I wanted to play earlier today but my ping was spiking so I played in dojo instead. I think it would be great if we could get everyone in the team to play either in dojo or ladder.

Thanks for sharing your expertise with us.

Oh also! I think we may need to recruit Europeans and North Americans who would be able to show up for games at 6pm GMT.

Default Sky League 10

Hi Team Volare,

I am thinking of entering our team in Sky League 10 (SL 10) since many of us have expressed interest in participating. We need to have at least 8 players who can commit to attending the games every Sunday @ 6pm GMT.

Please have a look at my list of players who could play for SL 10 and see if there needs to be any correction made:
A Maniac
DODD
Fichi fic s y!
Flame
Gator
Jbyrd
MoxyCrimeFighter
Poison
Techman
JollyBaltimorehore
Stinger
Toxic
Tenacious Tech

Default Happy for our Team

@Craktus: I'm also happy that you're happy to be part of the team!

Team Volare,

We have lots of exciting challenges ahead of us! Joining SL is an eye-opener that we need to play together more than ever. DODD volunteered to organize scrims for us to give us more opportunities to improve our teamwork. With the addition of new teammates, I think it's just the right time that we do this. I think this would also help us figure out the suitable role for each player in our team.

A big thanks to all who showed up for our games!!! That's one big improvement for us!

Default changes in our team

Hi Team Volare,

I have approached Gator and he graciously accepted the role of being leader/captain of this team. Looking at his credentials, it seemed to me that he is in a much better position to make our team more competitive. I hope we can all support him in his new role.

I will hereby be stepping down as your captain and become member instead. Gator revealed to me that he will be replacing Poison and DODD as vice captains and installing new captains or vice captains as well as making other changes in the roster and the team in general.

Perhaps many are disappointed with the way I've handled our team. For that, I'm very sorry. I believe in every player we have in our team so I think it's better to pass the leadership to someone who is more capable than me. If anyone needs anything, just let me know.

Go Team Volare!

Honestly, I thought for a second this was going to end up just like one of hapkido's team. Great way to handle things.

Best of luck with these changes

Hey, I was on one of those teams! Lol I remember when H20 had so many f*cking members, we needed an A and B team along with a practice squad ffs

But seriously, half this team having randa as their primary plane wasn't going to work. The fact that v has this many members yet often cannot put together a team of 6 for SL is no bueno. Good move, good luck
