Suggestion regarding the ladder situation

As many of the non european players will attest there is a severe trend for euroladder to be up for hours and hours with us ladder up for maybe an hour at most. The problem has been getting people to move from the EU server to the US server.

I suggest that we lower the ping limit on all european ladder servers to 100-125. This will keep the EU servers free of many of the usual laggers, but will also cause all the 126+ pings to start USA ladder. It'll keep the euros happy and the americans and Canadians happy.

What about some of our Asian players? There are a few that play EU that hover around 130-150 ping. It's worse on the US servers, so EU is actually a better fit for them.

Second, what about ping spikes? Any small blip will cut the connection from the server with a max ping that low.

Honestly, a 130-150 ping isn't terrible. I rather play against that than someone hovering around 250-270. I think a better max ping would be 200.

What the new ping limit would be driving at is to create an incentive for players to start up US ladder. I have a ping of 200 on euroladder and the frustration of usa ladder never being up is driving me to play this game less and less.

They would sit in US ladder until there are 12 in there, just like starting any other ladder. I say that we try it out for a week and see if it promotes a better experience for everyone.

I really don't want to sit on US ladder lobby with 3-4 players waiting for God knows how long until we start US ladder. Waiting will not be an option for me and I'm sure it won't be either for many others.

Slender is right...basically this seems like a suggestion for people who dont like playing EU. I have no problem playing EU ladder. By doing this, yes the people who don't like playing with high ping will play more, but you will be limiting the players who honestly don't mind which I can assure you far outnumber those who do care about high ping (those who refuse to play).

It's not a technical issue.
Stop wasting everyone's time proposing technical solutions to people problem.
Just find 11 guys who care (if there are any), and move to US server as soon (if ever) as they are online.

Besides, ping 120 is pretty playable compared to ping 185 on US for me.
So it's not surprising that US players just stay on whatever server that is running at the moment, instead of raging about ping.
At the same time, nothing stopping them from moving to US (and EU players might follow).

Well guys, the way XYAO sees it, he can rarely play ladder bcs he gets 350 ping on an EU server, and has to settle with pub servers.

yeah, i agree.

the problem with ping is not such an easy one to workaround given the current infrastructure of the internet. no matter where the server is hosted there will always be some who will have bad pings, just have to accept it for now.
