Default ACL - Altitude Chess League

We are in Week Round 6.

1) Where: Games to be played on Chess.com. Correspondence games are allowed. Live games are preferred. Previously I said that players could agree to play somewhere else. Chess.com does the job so well, I'm removing that option. It's just too good.
2) What: For each opponent you will play them two games, once as white and once as black. "Home" player (lower name listed in the round) plays white first unless players agree otherwise.
3) Clock: Play clock is either 10m clock or what both players can agree on.
4) Current Round: The week number represents which round needs to be completed this week. If games are not done during the week, the official game time is after APL/SL games are done (which start Sunday 2PM EST/7PM GMT). If there are no Altitude league games that week, then game time is when those games would have started. It is likely best to meet on Altitude to coordinate by PMs in game in the worse case. If it comes down to forfeits, then the player able and available to play at this time wins by forfeit. I'm unsure how to handle these games. Potentially the player who was more active could be awarded the win. Another option is to ignore missing games. Yet another option is to drop missing players at the end of the final week. Each option has pros and cons. Input?
5) Early Games: Games may be played early. If both players agree to play a later round game, they are welcome to.
6) Points: Wins gain you 1 point. Draws gain you 1/2 point. Highest points in group wins.
7) Proof of Winning: Post a link to your Chess.com game.
8) Late Games: If both players are actively trying to play, I'm not bothered by the timeline being missed. As this is 11 rounds, I'm alright with a player being delinquent on up to two games at any particular point in time.

Player Profiles: Aki, Apa, Ball'n, ChessPig, Clapon, Class, CmdrNoval, DN, Sage, Wolf

Week 5:
CmdrNoval vs Apa
Ball'n vs DN
Sage vs Class
Wolf vs Aki
ChessPig vs Clapon

Week 4:
Ball'n vs CmdrNoval
Apa vs Sage
DN vs Wolf
Class vs ChessPig
Aki vs Clapon 1 game

Missing Games. If gathering together to play a game is difficult, pleases start a correspondence game against your opponent.
Week 3:
CmdrNoval vs Sage
Wolf vs Ball'n
ChessPig vs Apa
Clapon vs DN
Aki vs Class

Week 2:
Wolf vs CmdrNoval
Sage vs ChessPig
Ball'n vs Clapon
DN vs Class

Week 1:
Class vs Ball'n

Good luck everyone.

If both players are actively trying to play, I'm not bothered by the timeline being missed. As this is 11 rounds, I'm alright with a player being delinquent on two games at any particular time.

If Monday works well for the two of you, you are welcome to play then.

R1 Sage vs Aki, Draw
Worse move of the game, 17. ... Nxf1, queen sacrificed without reason.

I'm not sure where Sage went after that game. He disappeared before we started the second game.

Because chess.com can easily show chess replays, I prefer it over Yahoo by a long ways.

A heads up, since Chess.com does the job so well, I'm removing the option for the players to choose a different site to play on. Chess.com is now the required site to play games. Please post links to the game instead of screenshots.

I know wolf was looking for clap earlier in the week, and clap was looking for Wolf afternoon Sunday. Class vs Ball'n is expected Monday. I haven't seen Sage since just after our first game.

Outside of those games, time to get started on Round 2.

Wolf vs CmdrNoval
Sage vs ChessPig
Ball'n vs Clapon
Apa vs Aki
DN vs Class

depending on how long you'd be willing to stay awake on friday, midnight PST is 9 AM for me. so I guess we can make it work around friday. I don't know when I'll be online so I'll just post here on the forums when I do.

So many of my games have ended by time. I haven't seen games develop in such a way as those games did. Our future games will be interesting.

Unfortunately, I am going to be quite busy with a proposal I am writing with my advisor, the due date is the 14th of March, and until that date my schedule will be improvised at best.

Round 2: Haven't heard a peep out of Wolf...

Round 3: Sage has yet to accept my "friends' request...
(Neither has Class, actually...)

Q: I know the rules are set for timed games... But should we consider doing some "Online" games, instead of "Live" games for those who have timezone or scheduling issues?

If two players agree to the game, playing correspondence chess is cool with me.

We have many games unplayed. If you are unable to gather with your opponent at convenient times, please consider starting correspondence games. The first post has been updated with a list of player profiles so you know who is who.

I say we just proceed week by week, as planned. Any games left unstarted by the end of Round 9 are forfeited by the inactive player.

Then you have this:

Q: What consititutes an "inactive player"?

The term itself leaves room for interpretation in this context. So I propose this:

-Create a day/time at the end of Round 9. To be decided amongst the players by popular vote. This will be Finals Day.

-Any unfinished games must be completed on Finals Day.

Q: What if a player doesn't attend on Finals Day?

-If a game is unfinished, at the end of Finals Day, it is decided in favor of the player who attends Finals Day.

Q: What if two players who have an unfinished match both fail to attend?

-In the event the neither player of a match attends Finals Day:

---a started game will be decided by material
---an unstarted game yields a draw for both players

I believe this to be a fair and equitable solution.

There's time zones, so a "finals day" wouldn't work. I could show up at 9 PM my time for finals day, whilst that might be the time you have to work. And when it's 8 PM your time when you've got some time left to attend, I'll be gone to sleep to get ready for the day after. I understand your idea but to be honest I think most of the players (including myself) have forgotten about this for the most part.

Once I have more free time on my hands I'll get more active, but at the moment I'm busy with preparing my maths test coming thursday.

I agree that timezones and schedules make these sorts of things difficult. And each of us knew that timezones would be an issue when we signed up to particpate in this League.

Timezone issues are why Aki modified the conditions to allow for correspondance games.

(@ Wolf: Which, btw, I send you a request to play our round in this manner, to make things easier for you...???)

But, with that said... Your logic holds true until we consider that all of us has had to attend Alti League games on a schedule. APL, SL, etc...

How does picking a day/time two months from now going to be such an inconvienence..? Any more of an inconvienence than attending an APL or SL Round..?
